Declarations of Jorge Altamira

Jorge Altamira pointed out that "the multitudinous participation of shopkeepers and small producers in the rallies along the route of the piquetero march clearly shows that the flame of popular rebellion remains kindled on this anniversary of December 19 and 20." Altamira denounced that "the government has seen itself obliged to dismiss those historic days in order to hide the illegitimacy of its origin and its usurpation of the popular rebellion. With that it admits that it has been incapable of solving the contradiction besieging it since it grabbed the reins of government, the same as that which toppled De la Rúa and Cavallo. Between the pro-devaluation fatherland and the hungry and unemployed people there exists an insurmountable abyss."

According to Altamira "the mass character of the people's mobilization evidences a crisis of power which must be resolved with the ousting of the government and the assuming of power by a Constituent Assembly. The disintegration of Peronsim, the scandalous internal divisions of Radicalism and of the ARI show that the political representatives of the reigning social order have no capacity for promoting a democratic way out."

"Argentina - concluded Altamira – entered last year a new historical stage which must end with a workers' government. If, on the contrary, a capitalist reorganization of the present social crisis is victorious, Argentina will slip several rungs back down the ladder of civilización."

Declaraciones de Jorge Altamira

Jorge Altamira señaló que "la multitudinaria participación de comerciantes y pequeños productores en los actos que jalonan la marcha piquetera pone en evidencia que la llama de la rebelión popular se encuentra viva en el aniversario del 19 y 20 de diciembre". Altamira denunció que "el gobierno se ha visto obligado a descalificar esas históricas jornadas para ocultar la ilegitimidad de su origen y su usurpación de la rebelión popular. Con ello admite que ha sido incapaz de resolver la contradicción que lo acosa desde que arrebató el gobierno y que es la misma que volteó a De la Rua y Cavallo. Entre la patria devaluadora y el pueblo hambriento y desocupado existe un abismo insalvable"! .
Para Altamira "la masividad de la movilización popular muestra que esta planteada una crisis de poder que debe resolverse con la salida del gobierno y la entrega del poder a una Asamblea Constituyente. La desintegración del peronismo, la escandalosa división del radicalismo y la división del ARI muestran que los representantes políticos del orden social imperante no tienen ninguna capacidad para impulsar una salida democrática".
"Argentina - concluyó Altamira - ingresó el año pasado en una nueva etapa histórica que debe concluir con un gobierno de los trabajadores. Si, por el contrario, sale victoriosa una reorganización capitalista de la presente crisis social, Argentina retrocederá varios peldaños en su nivel de civilización".
