AREVIG, the Armenian Computer-Based Course

The (Western) Armenian Computer-Based Course that we are pleased to present here is the result of a long and patient team work carried out in Aleppo and Beirut. An initiative of the Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon it is placed under the high patronage of His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia.

The work has been carried out within the scope of activities for the commemoration of the 1600th anniversary of the invention of the Armenian alphabet by St. Mesrob Mashots, the first Armenian teacher. It is presented under an attractive and interactive form and invites pupils to follow a progressive course, convivial and personalized enabling them to acquire from the most elementary notions to a perfect command of the Mashots language.

This course has 3 levels. With the first level, the student will acquire step by step fluent reading skills and the elementary notions of the Armenian Language (1st to 3rd year). With the second level he will find the indispensable notions of grammar (morphology, phonetic, syntax and composition) as well as notions of literature corresponding from 4th to the 8th year school levels. The third level will give more advanced notions of syntax, grammar and general Armenian knowledge and will lead the student to a fluent conversation in Armenian (9th to 11th year).
