I have posted picutes of these in the photo section under antique bottles. they
still have seal and are full. would like to know value and sell them if
possible.
Hi all,
I'm new to this group and was hoping maybe someone could help me with info on
the history and value of an antique rocker I have. I have posted photos in the
photo section under the album named Jamie - Rocking Chair. I apologize for the
bad condition of the photos. My webcamera isn't the best in the world. I don't
know if you'll be able to tell anything or not since the pictures are so bad.
I was told by a couple of different people this rocker was hand-made in the
1800s. It's a dark wood. It hasn't been taken care of very well. There are
some scratches, some places where it looks like it was scraped by something with
white paint. There is a small spindle missing. There are a handful of cracks
in the chair.
Overall, though, there aren't any "chunks" of wood missing, so it's not in *too*
bad shape considering it's age.
The seat is a couple of thin layers of some sort of light-colored wood with
holes punched in a star design. It has some cracking in it.
Someone told me that it looked like a "Mother's Chair" for a nursery, but I
thought those types of chairs didn't have arms, so I don't know.
It's a beautiful chair, and the wood sort has a warm glow to it, though you
can't tell that from the photos. I took the photos at night, so maybe I'll try
to take some more during the day and maybe that will help with the photos.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this chair - its value and/or its history?
Thank you,
Jamie
I have use www.bookfinder.com to find out information on books. This will also
give you what other sellers on the net is selling it for. Wartime book means it
was published during WWII.

Hi Kara,
I don't know for sure, but my best guess is that a "Wartime" book may have been
made with recycled materials, or that it was a smaller size to help save on
materials. The war in question was the Second World War, and it may very well
have been part of a shipment for our fighting men and women overseas.
As to whether or not it adds value. No. Book values are based on condition and
rarity. Mostly rarity.

I found the bowl once I realized how many pages of pictures there are, sorry my
bad.
Well that is certainly an unusual China bowl. Q.1. are you sure that is
chineese? can you actually read it?
It is good enough that it actually carries a make so I think that you should be
able to match the mark from a book or possibly on line. If you can't find one
like it once you know the maker then apply the principal I mentioned in the last
comment. Good Luck

Hi, I am new here too and yours is the first word I have seen since joining here
on the 2nd or 3ed. We don't seem to have joined a very active group lol.
I am sorry I didn't find any Hermans photo's under photo's, maybe pictures are
subject to aproval as well. rule of thumb tho is that if it says made in china
it is made for export. There for nothing spectacular. if you make a search of
the net and take an average of the price you see bowls like in size and
condition that is probibly what it is worth.Same holds true with things maked
Germany as well.

I have tried to get a fair market price on these every where and am met with no
response what ever. I want to sell them on line but want to know what kind of
reserve or starting bid to place on them.
I have found other examples of his work but mostly in Europe which being Italian
isn't surprising and they seem to range from 2-9 thousand pounds. I can not how
ever find this pair anywhere. The make indicates production from 1925-1967. The
male is in perfect shape but the female has had her head re attached and not
professionaly I would say. They both have the same 1044 item # so I assume they
are a pair. The following is a link to my photo bucket for view of items.

It can be restored by a professional, but it will not be worth as
much as an undamaged piece. I suggest you ask the Lladro people
here: http://www.lladro.com/

The movers broke my Lladro Japaneze lady arranging flowers and they paid me 1000
dollars. The break, although it was just the top of the flower stalk, rendered
it worthless.
Sorry about your Lladro. Your house insurance might cover it, or if movers
broke it you can get compensation.

I have a set of teaspoons that were made by N. Cornwell an American Silversmith
working in Danbury Conneticut in the early 1800's. I would like to know more
about him and the value of the spoons. I would appreciate any help.
I have a set that was passed down from my great grandmother and can not find any
info on it other than the company name that made it. It is stamped ZPF with the
swan and found out it stands for Zwickau Porcelain Factory but can't find a
"name" or anything further. I am going to post a few pictures in the photos
section (under "Bubbles") to see if anyone has an idea.
Thanks,
Amber
Hello,
I was hoping someone out there might be able to give a very rough estimate of
what a friend's dresser might be worth if she tries to sell it. My friend said
she could not find any markings on it to assess the maker.
Any help would be appreciated! Pictures are uploaded into "Kris Pics."
Thanks!
Kris
Thanks for the information. The first people we contacted implied that there
wasn't anything worth keeping but they would be more than willing to come in and
"clean the house for us and take away the trash". I may be new to this but I'm
just not that gullible. I appreciate the website link and will be using it
tonight.

The first rule is don't let any dealers / auctioneers get
their hands on your items at an undervalue. Try something like artfact.com to
find out what similar items are currently selling for...

I just joined this group because I'm trying to figure what to do with my
parents' belongings. I have a diverse group of things to take of. I have
unopened Beatles' LPs, 1st edition Last of the Mohicans (with N C Wyeth), etc.
Does anyone know how I get an idea of a valuation on various types of items (Roy
Rogers merchandise, early 20th century books, cast iron door stops, WW II ration
books, what have you)? I would like to research the value before I call another
auctioneer.
I'm entirely new at this but I'm willing to learn what I need to to make good
decisions on the items.

Thank you so much for your offer. The doorstop is pre-1900, is a conestoga wagon
with the original coloring. I can't remember whether there is a team of horses
drawing it.

I might be able to help a bit with the Roy Rogers stuff. I have a
reference book on his collectibles.
You can check eBay for the going rate of the sealed Beatles LPs;
collectors like that sort of thing.
If any of the cast iron doorstops are horses, I might be able to look
those up as well.

Some of that (perhaps all) is highly collectable. Do not settle for one
opinion, and watch like a hawk anyone who comes to see it. Take some time if
you can.

Interesting. I didn't have a clue what a Black Forest Clock was so had to check
out your blog. My mother had a clock very similar to the first one on your
page, except much smaller.
I've emailed her to see if she still has it and what kind it is.
Nice blog too.
