Description

This group is for those inspired by the conservative Anabaptists (Mennonites, Hutterites, Amish, Brethren) seeking to follow Jesus in their daily lives.

Our focus reaches back beyond the practices of modesty, head covering, separation from the world, and community to roots of the "Plain churches": the early Anabaptists. We consider the Anabaptists from the perspective that they were a "Remnant Church" and a restorationist movement that sought to return to the practices of primitive, New Testament Christianity. We welcome discussion to of the early church and other movements that have rediscoverd discovered the same ideas and practices reflected in the early Anabaptists beliefs and lives.

In the same manner as these groups we want to look at the scriptures in their plain and direct meaning, not as proof texts, but as the source of knowledge about God and His teachings.

We are open to discuss all topics, including sensitive issues such as remarriage, community of goods, mission, church standards, legalism, primitive technology, etc...

We are not a group for personal fellowship or devotional sharing. There are other lists available for discussing dress patterns, recipes, home schooling curricula, gardening, etc. Discussions of these types of topics should in some way relate to the primary purpose of the list as outlined above.

While civil debate is welcome, we want to avoid contention and advocacy of "progressive" ideas. No branding others as heretics. Sneaks and hedge preachers welcome.

Re: Abortion
... Or when their families say "you've ruined your life" and drag their daughters to the abortion clinic. Are they (the families) blaming God?

Hello, I am doing the courteous thing and introducing myself. I guess I fit into the "seekers" category, as there are no other Anabaptist persons in my region

Re: Child evangelists
A good question, and one that different Christian groups have answered in various ways. If we say a child is accountable at "7 years old", "12 years old", or
