Amplify Ministries was formally known as the Youth Praise Ministry (YPM) which evolved from its predecessor ministry, known as the Schools Ministry of the Youth Apostolate Committee YPM's original objective was to cater to the needs of Junior College/Pre-U students in non-Catholic schools.

At that time, many leaders were undergoing the Life in the Spirit Seminars and discovered the power of the Spiritual Gifts to transform lives. After much discernment and prayer, the leaders incorporated the Catholic charismatic spirituality into the ministry. The team was thus renamed as Youth Praise Ministry in August 1990.

In December of the same year, the first Youth in the Spirit Seminar (YISS) Camp was conducted over 4 days with 30 participants. The positive fruits of the camp confirmed that the team was heading in the right direction. Subsequently annual YISS Camps were conducted with over 100 participants each year, and the Archbishop has endorsed the ministry’s good work by gracing the camp with his presence and celebration of the Eucharist.

YPM was revamped when it moved to become a part of the Catholic Spirituality Centre, as its "youth wing" promoting the Catholic Charismatic Spirituality. It was also renamed as Amplify Ministries as part of the revamp in March 2005.
