RE: [AmInLeip] Amphi

I got some additional Amphi questions... so I'll post the answers here in
case anyone needs to know in the future.

0) Amphi official information
- The Amphi web site is http://www.amphi-festival.de/
- Once the line up is complete, bands are listed at
http://www.amphi-festival.de/2009/bands.html

1) Tickets/Wristbands
- Because tickets can sell out, it is worthwhile to order your
tickets early on (when they first become available). In 2008 tickets were
eBay'ing for upwards of 400 Euros, so you'll most likely get your investment
back if it turns out you cannot go.
- On the first day of the festival bring your ticket with you. When
you eventually get to the front of the queue to enter, your ticket will be
converted into a wristband for the weekend.

2) Pre-party and DJs
- There is usually a DJ pre-party the night before Amphi opens at a
nearby dance club. There were many signs and flyers about it in Koln. 2008
was a Depeche Mode party which proved to be a decent DJ mix that had a lot
of good dancing though it was a bit crowded.
- In 2008 the DJ dance party following the bands was held at the
smaller stage (indoor) location. The DJs started late, were absolutely
terrible, and the music didn't even seem related to the bands. By the time
a good DJ came on, it was very late and most folks were sprawled out in the
back bar area of the venue. Generally the dancing was abysmal.

3) Accommodations/Camping
- There are several name brand hotels around Koln that are quite
nice.
- Camping is also an option, but camping tickets can and do sell
out.

4) Food and vending
- There are numerous food stalls within the festival grounds. The
options are quite broad.
- There are numerous vending stalls and a large goth-topic store.
- It's worth noting the restrooms were very well maintained and
possibly the cleanest I've ever witnessed at any festival.

5) Alcohol and drinks
- They have it. I don't drink alcohol so I can only say many people
were trying various local beers as well as drinking their normal stuff. I
heard no complaints about selection or price. The line could be a bit long
but there were several places to buy which helped spread the crowd around.
- There are a few drinking water fountains located on the grounds
for folks as well.

6) Transportation
- There was a lot of folks on foot. Taxis were plentiful most of
the day both from the bahnhoff area and at the festival grounds.
