Ament Family Group
FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY The AMEND / AMENT family, originally from from Franconia, in a village of Reicholzheim, Germany from the area administered by BRONNBACH of the Diocese of Wuerzberg. The Amends in Reicholzheim can be traced back to at least the 1500's. Johann AMEND moved to Waibstadt,(Baden) Germany and once married, took a boat down the Danube to Filipowa. Some of his descendants moved to many area's including Obrowatz,Batschka and Sotin, Tompojevci, Lowas in Syrmien. The AMEND / AMENT family were of German ethnicity who are later known as Donauschwaben. They arrived in Filipowa, Batschka, 1765 from second of large migration period. During the 18th century the "Schwabenzug" or Great Swabian Migration began. In the late 1800's Sotin, Lowas, Tompojevci and all the other towns in Croatia, were all part of the massive Austrian–Hungarian Empire. Our AMENT Line remained in this area for years before moving to America in the early 1900's. This is a interactive site so click away.
