Originally these were alloy (aluminum). They are actually dead
simple to make from sheet aluminum. You really only have to cut them out by
hand and flange them for mounting. No forming, such as with an English wheel,
is reauired. If you do not have flanging equipment, you can do the job by
hammering over the edge of a work bench. Stainless is a lot more difficult to
work than aluminum, and you can polish the aluminum to look as good as
stainless.
These need to be made with your car sitting in the shop, as no two
cars are similar enough to trust dimensions from another car.
