Abu Qatada al-Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) was asked about fasting on the day of 'Arafa (9th of Dhu'I-Hijja), whereupon he said: It expiates the sins of the preceding year and the coming year. Sahih muslim, Book 006, Hadith 2603

As Haj approaches, Ummah gets united

 

  

 

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered a passionate and soul-stirring sermon during his first and only Haj on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah – the day of Arafah. The sermon, which is popularly known as the Farewell Sermon, is recorded in several authentic books of Ahadith, including Sahih Al-Bukhari and Musnad Ahmad. The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not live till next year’s Haj and this was his farewell address to the tens of thousands of Muslims who did the pilgrimage with him.

 

“O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Treat others justly so that no one would be unjust to you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds.”

 

The Prophet also exhorted the Muslims to fear Allah regarding women and to keep their hands off each other’s wealth and property. The 9th of Dhul Hijjah is sacred even for those Muslims who are not performing Haj. Its fast is an expiation for sins committed in the previous year and the next. (Sahih Muslim, no. 1162)

 

The sight of hundreds of thousands of Muslims embarking on their journey of Haj, proclaiming the talbiyah, telecast all around the world calls us to think about the time when Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) built the Ka’bah with his son Isma’il in the scorching, arid, and barren valley of Makkah thousands of years ago. He found it incredible that people would one day throng this Sacred House, in this uninhabited land, to answer their Lord’s call for Haj. He therefore prayed for Makkah to be blessed with fruit and provision from all around, and for people’s hearts to be inclined towards its people.

 

“O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation, by Your Sacred House; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish regular Prayer: so fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks.” (Qur’an, 14:37)

 

He then proceeded, in submission to Allah’s command, to make the call for Haj to all mankind. Allah responded by declaring that a day would come, when this Sacred House would bring forth pilgrims from every distant valley, and on every riding beast available to them; they would come, responding to Allah’s call for Haj.

 

“And proclaim to mankind the Haj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, they will come from every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Haj).” (Qur’an, 22:27)

 

The blessing is apparent. The Muslim Ummah, though divided today by sects, groups, and international borders, unites into one nation. Yes, we all unite during Haj, Alhamdulillah. We put everything aside to respond to Allah’s call. All pilgrims gather together on a single stretch of land – the plain of Arafah. Away from their comfortable homes, dressed in a pair of unstitched cloths, their faces covered with dust, their heads unprotected from the sun, their bellies half-empty, and their hearts humbled, they stand in remembrance of their Lord, turning to Him in repentance and submission. The most diehard of sinners can, on this day, transform into a humble, penitent servant with the mercy of Allah.

 

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “There is no day on which Allah frees more of His slaves from the Fire than the day of Arafah. He draws close then He praised them before the angels and says, ‘What do these people want?’” (Sahih Muslim, no. 1348)

 

After returning from Arafah, however, some unfortunate Muslims fall into the trap of Satan and fall into petty disputes about petty matters! They forget the essence of Haj, which teaches valuable lessons of mutual harmony and forbearance, as the Prophet advised in his last sermon.

 

Nothing rings true as much as the part of his sincere speech quoted below, the message of which, if Muslims were to take back home with them after Haj, would change their attitudes for good: “Know that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim, which belongs to a fellow Muslim, unless it is given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, be unjust to yourselves.” (Al-Bukhari, no. 1623; and Muslim, no. 98)

An estimated two million foreign pilgrims are expected to take part, while pilgrims from inside Saudi Arabia are forecast at 500,000.

The biggest Haj contingent is from Indonesia - 200,000 - while India is sending 164,000 and Pakistan about 140,000.

Saudi Arabia is deploying some 100,000 security forces in and around Makkah, Madina and Jeddah for the Haj. From a massive command center they monitor thousands of CCTV cameras, including 1,852 in and around Makkah ‘s Grand Mosque, and 600 at the Jamarat bridge where pilgrims stone the devil.

Health personnel have been increased this year to 20,000 to cope with the threat of swine flu in addition to other health worries.

The Grand Mosque at the center of Makkah, where pilgrims gather to pray covers 39 hectares (96 acres) and can hold more than one million people.

The Ka’ba rests on a marble base and is built from granite, and has a door made from 280 kilos (616 pounds) of pure gold. The black silk kiswa covering, made anew every year, is embroidered with phrases from the Holy Qur’an using 150 kilos (330 pounds) of gold and silver thread.

Hi-tech Jamrat facility fully operational

MINA: Saudi authorities have completed the construction of the five-story Jamrat Bridge in Mina, enabling pilgrims to make full use of the high-tech facility this year for stoning the Jamrat.

The SR4.5 billion project aims to ensure a smooth flow of thousands of pilgrims during the ritual. Many pilgrims have, in the past, died in stampedes while carrying out this rite.

Well not allow pilgrims to squat along the roads leading to the Jamrat, said Maj. Gen. Saad Al-Khelaiwi, assistant commander of Haj Security Forces. Well also monitor and control the flow of pilgrims, he added.

He said the Jamrat Bridge would not be able to accommodate more than 300,000 pilgrims an hour. So we have appointed 19 commanders along the roads to stop pilgrims when the number exceeds 300,000.

Addressing a press conference in Mina, Al-Khelaiwi said pilgrims would not be allowed to carry large bags while going to perform the stoning ritual, adding that more than 12,000 men would be taking part in the operation.

Maj. Muhammad Al-Shahri, commander of the Command and Control Center, said his center has the ability to monitor all operation areas. We have installed more than 1,850 cameras in different parts of the holy sites and the Grand Mosque, he said.

Maj. Gen. Khidr Al-Zahrani, assistant commander for Security Affairs, said his forces would focus on preventing crimes.

We have established about 30 police stations in the holy sites to receive pilgrims complaints.

The state-of-the-art Jamrat Bridge is designed to accommodate five million pilgrims. It has 10 entrances and 12 exits distributed over the four levels plus others to accommodate pilgrims coming from different directions. There are some more works pending: construction of four helipad towers and eight escalator towers, which will be ready next year.

Another major project is currently underway to redesign and develop Arafat at a cost of SR500 million. The first phase of the project was begun earlier this year and will cost about SR170 million. It consists of reconstructing roads, service utilities, tent locations, leveling eight small rocky outcroppings, and a sewage network for rain and floodwater.

Once completed, it will be easy for pilgrims to enter and exit Arafat. The service roads and emergency exits will be clearly marked. The leveling of the outcroppings will provide an empty area that can accommodate some 100,000 pilgrims. It will also provide space for the construction of more than 200 toilets and a major road 700 meters long and 30 meters wide.

We are in the red zone right now for another potential 9/11 style false-flag event. Heres why.

Israel and its allegedly American cheerleaders are desperate to attack Iran ASAP, while Pentagon hawks are yearning to escalate the war in Afghanistan. In other words, the folks who brought us 9/11 and the 9/11 wars want a momentous escalation of those wars. And they want it NOW.

But the American people arent on board. Polls show that the war on Afghanistan is more unpopular than ever. And the level of destruction unleashed by a Zio-American attack on Iran would make our current economic chaos look like the Golden Age.

To get people to accept this kind of massive escalation, another major false-flag event demonizing Muslims, and thereby legitimizing escalations against the Taliban and the Islamic Republic of Iran, may be in the works.

The Ft. Hood probable false-flag attack (see Jerry Mazzas article) seems to have been timed to coincide with the decision to try (the individual claimed to be) Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the 9/11 patsy-in-chief. All of this appears to have been orchestrated to evoke memories of 9/11 and reinforce the official storya necessary preliminary to any 911-2B. In other words, they may be softening us up for something big.

Remember folks, what were dealing with here is a war on Islam and Muslims launched and sustained by a whole series of false-flag events, not just 9/11-anthrax but also the attacks on Bali, Madrid, London, Mumbai, and now (apparently) Ft. Hood. There is no reason to think these people are going to stop any time soon.

A Beautiful Hadeeth about Hajj

One day Ibn Umar (RA) was sitting with the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) in the masjid in Mina when a man from the Ansaar and a man from the Thaqeef came.

 

They gave Salaam and said, “O Messenger of Allaah, we came to ask you questions.”

 

So the Messenger (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said:  “If you want I can inform you why you came and what you want to ask, and I will do so, and if you want I will hold back and you can ask me and I will answer you.”

 

They said:  “Tell us O Messenger of Allaah!” 

The man from Thaqeef said to the Ansaari:  “Ask.” 

So the Ansaari man said:  “Inform me O Messenger of Allaah!”

 

The Messenger of Allaah (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said:  “You came to me, to ask about leaving your house and aiming for the Bait-ul-Haraam and the reward for it; about praying two Rakah after Tawaaf and the reward for it; going between as-Safa and Marwa and the reward for it; your staying the evening in Mina, and the reward for it; stoning the Jamarah and the reward for it; slaughtering an animal and the reward for it; and the Tawaaf of al-Ifaadh.”

 

The man said:  “I swear by the One who sent you with the truth!  This is what I came to ask you about.”

 

The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said:  “As for you leaving your homes aiming for the Bait-ul-Haraam:  then your she-camel does not place its foot nor does it raise it except that Allaah writes for you a reward due to it, and wipes off one of your sins.

 

As for the two Rakah after the Tawaaf, then it is equivalent to freeing a slave from the Children of Ismaeel.

 

As for your circuiting of as-Safa and al-Marwa, then it is the same as freeing 70 slaves.

 

As for you staying till the evening in Arafah, then Allaah descends to the sky of the Duniya and He boasts about you to the Angels, and says:  "My slaves have come to Me, looking rough, from every deep valley hoping for My mercy, so if their sins were equivalent to the amount of sand or the drops of rain or like the foam on the sea I will forgive them.  So go forth My slaves!  Having forgiveness and for what or who you have interceded for."

 

As for stoning the Jamaar (the pillars), then for every stone that you throw, it removes a big sin from the deadly sins.

 

As for your slaughtering, then it is saved for you with your Lord.

 

As for shaving your head, then there is a reward for every strand of hair that you shaved, and a sin is wiped off by it.

 

As for you performing Tawaaf of the House after all this, then by this time you are performing Tawaaf with no sin upon you and an Angel comes and places his hand between your shoulders saying:  “Perform good deeds in what you face of the future, for verily your past sins have been forgiven.”

Subhaan Allaah! What a beautiful hadeeth!
 
And what good news for the pilgrims!
Rejoice and celebrate! Those of you going for Hajj this year!
What more could you ask for?!!
 
Remember this hadeeth as you leave your homes for this honorable journey, whether it is by plane, ship, car or camel. Remember that Allaah will forgive your sins at each step you get closer to your destination and reward you at each step.
 
And remember this hadeeth as you circumambulate the Kaaba and say your two rakaat....And during your Saee as you get tired......and on the Day of Arafah as you spread out your hands and ask for His Mercy and forgiveness....remember this hadeeth and cry. Weep out of your fear of Him and beg Him to pardon you and to guide you to Jannah.
 
And as you stone the Jamaraat with the crowds, remember this hadeeth and thank Allaah for this opportunity to have your major sins forgiven. And when you slaughter your animal and shave your head only for His sake, remember to thank Him and praise Him and glorify Him, for no one but Him Alone made all this possible for you. No one but Him Alone can forgive you and guide you. And no one but Him Alone can accept all this from you. 
 
And finally, as you make Tawaaf of al-Ifaadhah....remember this hadeeth and firmly resolve to be good, to fear Him, to be honest and upright.....a follower of the Sunnah....a true Muslim in word and deed, not just by name. Promise Him that you will try your best to have taqwa and keep away from all that is haraam. And direct all praise and thanks to Allaah Alone who honored you by first inviting you to His Noble House then enabled you to perform Hajj and then forgave you your sins. Alhamdulillaahi Rabb il-Aalameen. Can we ever thank Allaah for His kindness and blessings?!!
 
And if you do all that, sincerely following the Sunnah, you will be forgiven, just as the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) promised us. And your reward will be Jannah.
 
As for those of us who couldnt go this year, make firm intention NOW, to go for Hajj next year.
No, not in the near future. Next Year.
Thats it. Dont delay it.
Make a promise to yourself and ask Allaah to make it happen.
If you ask sincerely, He will surely make it come true.
For, how can one read this beautiful...beautiful hadeeth and not want to take benefit from it?!!
How can one stand not to be the one to whom this hadeeth applies?!!
How can one not be one of the Haajis??!!!
 
May Allaah enable all those of us who have not yet gone for Hajj to do so and may He accept all those who did go. Ameen.

The Virtues of the First 10 days of Dhul Hijjah

Albaseerah News letter Issue # 2 of Vol. 1

From the most virtuous of days are the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah (the 12th month in the lunar calendar, one of the sacred months and the month of Hajj). A group of those from the People of Knowledge say: Verily they are the best days of the year just as the last ten nights of Ramadaan are the best nights of the year. Some of the various types of righteous actions which are done in these first ten days are mentioned below:

REMEMBRANCE OF ALLAAH

 The first of the righteous actions is the remembrance of Allaah . Allaah said: {and the men and the women who remember Allaah much with their hearts and tongues - Allaah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).} [al-Ahzaab 33:35]

 It is affirmed in a number of texts the encouragement of mentioning the takbeer. Allaah said: {and mention the Name of Allaah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah)} [al-Hajj 22:28]

 It has been affirmed from the Sahaabah (Companions) of the Prophet and from him , that they increased in the takbeer (saying Allaahu AkbarAllaah is the Greatest) in the first ten days of the month of Dhul Hijjah and they raised their voice with it, each one of them saying the takbeer on his own. They raised their voices until the mountains shook from their takbeer but they did not say the takbeer in unison (in Jamaaah). Each of them said the takbeer on his own.

VOLUNTARY ACTS OF WORSHIP

 One should implement the voluntary acts of worship - whether prayer, fasting or charity. It is reported in hadeeth that the Prophet encouraged fasting the ten days and it is reported that he said: Whoever fasts the Day of Arafah will have his sins expiated for two years (the past year and the coming year). [Ibn Maajah]

 DO NOT CUT HAIR OR NAILS FOR THE ONE DOING THE SACRIFICE

 From what is considered as righteous actions on these ten days is that the one who wants to do the Udhiyyah (sacrificial slaughter) should not cut his hair or nails during these ten days. As such it is desired that he commits himself before these ten days by cutting his hair and nails. The Prophet said: When any one of you intending to sacrifice the animal enters in the month (of Dhul-Hijjah) he should not get his hair or nails touched (cut). [Muslim]

SUPPLICATE FOR THE HUJJAAJ

 One should make du`aa (supplication) for the hujjaaj (pilgrims who have embarked upon the Hajj) that Allaah keeps them safe from all evil and that He returns them to their countries. This is because the hujjaaj are the guests of Ar-Rahmaan so they have a right upon us that we supplicate for them for ease in their affairs and their safe return.

UDHIYYAH - SACRIFICIAL SLAUGHTER

 One should prepare to do the Udhiyyah (sacrificial slaughtering of an animal) and arranging distribution of the meat amongst family, friends, the needy etc. This is from the pious and righteous deeds. Abu Haneefah was of the opinion that it was from the obligatory acts but most of others say that it is desirable. The Prophet said Who does not slaughter should not come to the salaah. [Ibn Maajah]

ATTEND THE `EED SALAAH

 From amongst the righteous actions is attending the salaatul `Eed, greeting one another, and leaving off fasting on the day of `Eed and on the days of Tashreeq (i.e. the 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul Hijjah).

 Based on a lectured by Shaykh Sa`d ash-Shitree (may Allaah preserve him).

Umm Salama Radi Allaho Anha , the wife of Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him), reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) to have said: He who has a sacrificial animal with him whom (he intends) to offer as sacrifice, and he enters the month of Dhu'I-Hijja, he should not get his hair cut or nails trimmed until he has sacrificed the animal.

Sahih Muslim, Book 022, Number 4873:

 

Another hadith in same chain:

 Umm Salama Radi Allaho Anha reported (these words) directly from Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him): If anyone has in his possession a sacrificial animal to offer as a sacrifice (on 'Id al-Adha), he should not get his hair cut and nails trimmed after he has entered the first days of Dhu'l Hijja

According to Islamic tradition it was a miraculously- generated source of water from angel Jibril (Gabriel), which began thousands of years ago when Ibraham's infant son was thirsty. Millions of pilgrims visit the well each year while performing the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimages, in order to drink its water. By Saudi law, the water cannot be sold outside of the kingdom, but because of strong demand there is a thriving market in fake Zamzam water in other countries.

1) Four things that make your body sick:

a) Excessive talking
b) Excessive sleeping
c) Excessive eating and
d) Excessive meeting other people

2) Four things that destroy the body:

a) Worrying
b) Sorrow (Sadness/Grief)
c) Hunger
d) Sleeping late in the night

3) Four things that dry the face & take away its happiness:

a) Lying
b) Being disrespectful / impudent (insisting on something wrong knowingly)
c) Arguing without adequate knowledge & Information.
d) Excessive immorality (doing something wrong without fear).

4) Four things that increase the wetness of face & its happiness:

a) Piety
b) Loyalty
c) Generosity (being kind)
d) To be helpful to others without he/she asking for that.

5) Four things that stop the Rizq (Sustenance) :

a) Sleeping in the morning (from Fajr to sunrise)
b) Not Performing Namaz or Ir-regular in Prayers

The Holy Prophet (SAW) said, Stop doing everything during the Azaan, even reading the Quran, the person who talks  during the Azaan will not be able to say the Kalima E Shahada on his/her death bed....

Nice and inspiring story. But, could any one of the brothers or sister's point to me the chapter and the verse Number of the following quote:

'And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children,
How much more shall Allah, Who is in heaven,
Give to those who ask Him?'

If any of you don't know, justclick here to search the verse in Google.

A humble request to all brothers and sisters before forwarding any emails. Please verify it before forwarding.

It took me less than a minute to figure out that this verse is from the Bible, not Quran, just by doing a simple search online. I just copied and pasted the whole verse inGoogle. Who ever started this email, may have had good intention, but it would have helped if he/she had atleast replaced the verse with a relevent one from the Quran.

May Allah save us all from committing such mistakes, ameen!

With tears, He opened the Koran And Began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse:

'And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children,
How much more shall Allah, Who is in heaven,
Give to those who ask Him?'

As he read those words, A car key dropped from the back of the Koran. It had a tag with the dealer's name,The same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, And
The words... PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss Allah's blessings
Because they are not packaged as we expected?

Do not spoil what you have
By desiring what you have not;
But remember that what you now have
Was once among the things you only hoped for...

As-Salamu Alaykum (peace be upon you),

BACKBITING

Backbiting, something that is a problem everywhere and that can have detrimental effects on our Ummah and ourselves. So how this is detrimental to us?

On the Day of Judgment our good deeds will be measured against our bad deeds and whichever has the greater balance will effect our outcome on that day.

What does this have to do with sins committed against others?

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) as saying:

"Do you know who is poor? They (the Companions) said: A poor man amongst us is one who has neither dirham with him nor wealth. He (peace be upon him) said: The poor of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with prayers and fasts and Zakah but (he would find himself bankrupt on that day as he would have exhausted his funds of virtues) since he hurled abuses upon others, brought calumny against others and unlawfully consumed the wealth of others and shed the blood of others and beat others, and his virtues would be credited to the account of one (who suffered at his hand). And if his good deeds fall short to clear the account, then his sins would be entered in (his account) and he would be thrown in the Hell-Fire." [Muslim]

What is being described here is the bankrupt person is the one who runs out of good deeds on the Day of Judgment. How can this be so?

There is a part of the last day where the Muslims will meet on the Sirat (bridge), those that make it across this bridge go to Jannah, those that fall from the bridge will spend at least some time in the Hellfire. On this bridge each will take from the other whatever is outstanding from the previous life. So if a person has done something to harm another, they will take from that person their good deeds to reconcile with that person, so at the end everyone is cleared of outstanding matters, cleansed of their bad doings. Except for those who don't have enough good deeds to give to those who they harmed. As it describes in the Hadith. These will dwell for some time in the Hellfire to cleanse what is left of their sins.

What things are we talking about? You borrowed a pen from someone and you didn't return it, minor but still that person will come to claim what is rightfully theirs. You speak badly about someone or spread lies about them, they will come to collect.. You borrow something and return it in bad condition without apology or replacing what you ruined. You steal from someone. You physically hurt someone. You short change them in a deal. There are some many ways in which we may cause harm or injustice to another person, and unless we sort it out now, in this life it will be sorted out on the Sirat in the form of handing over those good deeds.

How does this all related to the topic of backbiting?

Umar ibn al-Khattab came upon Abu Bakr as-Siddiq pulling his tongue. Umar said to him, "Stop, may Allah forgive you!" Abu Bakr replied, "This has brought me to dangerous places." [Muwatta']

We should be weary of our tongues and what we say. Think about this as an example ... how many times have you or someone else referred to one of your fellow sisters with a remark, "Look at the Hijab, isn't that ghastly" or some such similar comment. It isn't a huge comment, but just like the pen, it will be taken from you in good deeds on the Day of Judgment. We tend to focus on the big bad things we say, or others say without realizing that even the smallest thing will come back to us. And again think for a moment, one such small comment often begins a conversation which grows into worse forms of backbiting and slander.

Allah forbids these acts, as He says in the Quran:

"O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion, in deeds some suspicions are sins. And spy not neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah, verily, Allah is The One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful" [Noble Quran 49:12]

Can you imagine that backbiting is like eating the flesh of your fellow human being?

Do you understand what backbiting is?

Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) said:

"Do you know what backbiting is?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He then said, "It is to say something about your brother that he would dislike." Someone asked him, "But what if what I say is true?" The Messenger of Allah said, "If what you say about him is true, you are backbiting him, but if it is not true then you have slandered him." [Muslim]

Backbiting is something that you say about a person that they will dislike you to say that is true about them. Even worse is slander because you are adding the addition sin of lying about that person on top of it!!

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

"Who protects his tongue from unlawful utterances and his private parts from illegal sexual intercourse, I shall guarantee him entrance into Paradise." [Bukhari and Muslim]

Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) also said:

"I asked the Messenger of Allah: Who is the best Muslim? The Messenger of Allah replied, "He is the one from whom Muslims are safe from the evil of his tongue and hands."

Are the Muslims safe from your tongue? Are you checking just what words are coming out of your mouth? Will you be handing out all your good deeds on the Day of Judgment because of what you said?

It is worth taking a stock take of what you say. Reflect upon that fact that the most likely person you say bad things about is most likely the person you would least like to share your good deeds with. Contemplate the effort you put into accumulating good deeds only to open your mouth and blow them all away!!

One last tip on this topic, it is easier to avoid backbiting, gossiping and slandering if you do not listen to such talk. It is also a sin to participate in backbiting by listening to others back bite.

Walk away or change the subject, but don't just sit there and absorb the evil utterances of others.

At that time i didnt have even 100 Rs in my pocket and they offered me 4.5 Billion Rupees.I was totally blanked for the instant.It was contract for 1 year.I never talk about my past usually but today i am sharing everything because today i have mood to share my past.Telling you all this just to encourage you.So they asked me to give them reply for this contract.I said ok.Please give me one day to decide it.They agreed.I brought contract papers to my home for one day.I did put it in front of my wife and asked about it.It was my wish that my wife would say .Lets do it.I was 50 /50 about it now.When i thought 4.5 billion is a great amount! and its just for a year after that i will confess and repent for it.Allah is Most Merciful He will forgive me.My wife said its here and you can do it but because once you have repented from the sin of singing now please return this offer and leave it.I said ok but i want you to think hard before i return this contract back to comapny as you told me yesturday that we dont have even a 100 Rs at home.She said dont worry everything will be alright.We will get somehow.I called back in the company and told them i am not doing business with you anymore.I returned the offer and torn the contract paper into pieces.Then they called me again and said .Ok! you dont want 1 year contract with us its ok but please make only one song for us.How long will it take to make one song??Only 2 months or little more.Just One song after that you will be free.and we will give you million dollars.Then i said yes this is it.Its simple and i will do it.Just one song and thats it! will confess and repent after 2 months instead of a year.Because Allah is Most Merciful He will forgive me.I was very happy now.Then i came to know that its not a solo song but i have to sing it with a female singer from somewhere in central Asia.Then again i came to my wife and showed her this new offer.I said now you see its just about 2 months and thats it.She agreed but then i told my wife that its not a solo song but i have to perform it with a female singer whoever she is .She replied are you out of your mind?Will you go on the stage with a woman in this age?She torn that contract with her own hands.I called them back again and said its not possible.They said alright.They called me again after a couple of days.They said we dont want a year contract not even a 2 months contract with you .But only one Addvertisement for our company and i said i have no objection for it.But remember that i have beard this long.They said we have a solution for that.I asked tell me the solution .They said cut it .I said ok.I said it is not the solution.They said we want to shoot this commercial in malysia and for that commercia;l you would have to stay in malaysia for a month .Then you will get a little bit of your beard grow back in that time.I said i will tell you again after one day.I came to my wife and told her about it.I said see now i have not to sign a year contract nor 2 months contract not even a woman is involved in this.But have to work for one month.Only i have to do for it is to cut my beard and after one month i will let it grow again.and my wife said are you out of you mind?Will you cut your beard for this commercial?I said its alright ..Allah is Most Merciful He will forgive me.I told her that compnay has offered me a stay in malaysia for a month with you(wife).She said Look Junaid .I have to say just this.If you would die in this time period?what will you say to your Lord?Will you show Him your face without beard?secondly i dont want to go with you in this condition of yours.You go alone and do whatever you want to do without me.I called again to company and said .The reason i am doing this all is my wife and she is not happy for me to do this in the way you are willing.I refused their Third offer.After that i asked from my wife is she happy now?We have nothing now.She said we do somthing else.you just dont worry .I said alright.Only Allah knows what happened and how it all happened i even dont remember anything .Everything changed but still i was in front of mike.Before i used to stand in front of it only for few minutes now i tiredly stand for hours in front of it.Only purpose has changed.Before people used to dance in front of me and now i see successors of prophets sitting in front of me.
How beautiful audience God gifted me.So i still have audience for which i was affraid .After all the settelment i used to think God has given me a great business(clothing show rooms)and how that business is running i have no idea about that.Allah knows best.After day passes by i get profit in my daily sales .Never get loss.That problem was solved.In the end i used to think everything will be alright but i wont get my fame back .But Allah granted me with a great respect that today i sit with the great scholars of the time.and i get benifits from them.I get great love from you all,I got a call from Mobilinlk(mobile company)They told me in whole pakistan there are just few people whose mobile rings the most in the course of day,Then i said everything will be good but one thing will never ever happen again in my life and that is .I wont be able to use my skills of singing again .Before i used to sing but now?Then i sang Jalwa-e-jana( Naat) and Allah knows how i got that.Here i want to say tust me .You will never loose anything.Before i used to sing for boys and girls of 16 or 17 years old and i was 40 years old .So i thought how long will they listen my songs i am growing older day by days.I have an interesting incidence and i want to mention here.I came down from the stage after my show and i was having gaurds arround me right and left.They were directing me towards my car.I was in Tableegh in that period of time.I heard a voice of a boy .he was just 17 or 18 years old.He called me with the name ..O Junaid!I felt it very bad that some one of that age calling me in this way.I thought he must had some respect for me.Is this the way to call some one Oey Junaid!! I was thinking it would be better if some one call me with Junaid Bhai or some other respect ful name.But then i realised that what i am doing on the stage is something where no one can call me as Hazrat because what i was doing was really not a good thing.A man is known with his actions.If your actions are good people will respect you and if your actions are not good no body respects you.This thing we have here needs to spread all over the world.Especially to those guys who are wasting their time on the roads .If you have became a eminent scholar .It is nothing from your greatness but Allah has granted you with it and that is not enough yet .Before coming here Molana and i met with 2 boys out side and i was very happy having them here.But what about those guys who are out side on the roads doing nothing but wasting their time.Who will teach them .Isnt it your and my responsibilty to tell them the truth?When i came here in this Masjid today i was thinking about the benefits of this sitting.In past when we used to sing its affects were all around the communities that people used to come to me and told we heard your that show and it was really great after months .Then a boy came to me clean shaved with a tight jeans with a hair style.Asked. Junaid bhai i came here after a great struggle just to meet with you.I asked where from you have came he said from Multan(southern punjab )I said alright.why you came here?He said teach me how to sing?I was in tableegh so i said i am out of singing now .why you want this?Leave it and do something good for your life.He said no i want you to teach me how to sing.If you will not teach me how to sing then i will learn it from anybody else.I said no you dont go anywhere .He had idea that i am in tableegh now so he came now with new way as he said Junaid bhai do u know i am Hfiz-e-Quran .I said.What??? He said Junaid bhai there isnt anything in it just leave it and teach me how to sing.I want to be like you. I was shocked!! I said are you really a Hafiz-e-Quran? and you are out of beard?I was also without beard.He told me that he has just shaved his beard few days back just for this purpose because i want to become like you.See how deep impacts are for bad things.A Hafiz-e-Quran came just to learn singing,There is a difference of sitting .If you will sit in a sitting of good people you will have a desire to get good things from that but if you will go in the sitting of bad people you will love to learn their ways.My friends come to me and ask me about the Naat of Molana Saeed..They tell me my son remember it all and recites it.I become very happy.Today nobody comes to me and say that my son remembers your song(Dil dil pakistan).Becase when truth comes all the darkness fades away.For that we dont need to say just InshAllah but for that we need to work ourselves.Why dont we arrange such sittings?once i told Molana abdul wahad that people ask me for naats but i refused them all the time because i think what will come in your minds with regard of your way of tableegh as i doesnt include naats In the way we tableegh.So he said .You can go and sing it.Molana tariq Jamil asked me to make a album and prayed for me.and also said this.When your this album will release people will forget about your songs.I am just sharing this.When i recits the name of Allah first time I realised that i never had such experience of feeling when i used to sing the words od songs.The frequency of saying Allah is different from any other frequencies of singing.My recordist told me after listening Jalwa -e-jana that this album has some frequencies which i never saw before in any songs so what should we do for it?I said leave it as it is dont change anything and release the album.I have learnt alot and AlahmaduLillah my courage has bocome more.I will advise people sitting here that whomesoever has good voice use it for good puposes.Like reciting Quran and so on.So that the environment we see due to this singing and dancing may change towards righeousness, Its possible that they start listening you and throw everything else out.

An exclusive Tete-a-tete with Mohammad Yousuf, formerly Yousuf Youhana. Pakistani Cricketer and Revert to Islam. The following is the translation of the interview, which took place recently in Karachi.
Islam remains the most misunderstood religion in the world. There has been disregard and disrespect of our dearest Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This shows the misconceptions about Islam and ill feelings that have been injected in the minds of non muslims. Despite of which, people from different walks of life are coming into the field of Islam.

The True Call has put in a little effort to present the true picture of Islam and clear the misconceptions associated with it.
Today we have with us one such person who discovered the Truth of Islam. He is a Muslim not by birth but a Muslim by choice.
Yes! Pakistan's Premier Middle order Batsman Mohammed Yousuf.
The True Call: Assalam Alaykum Brother Yousuf.
The True Call: Can you tell us about your childhood, how and where you spent it?
Yousuf: I spent my Childhood in Railway Colony and have been playing cricket since then, and even now I am doing the same. This is how I spent my childhood
The True Call: What was the importance of Religion during your early days? Where did you gain your religious education?
Yousuf: There was no such thing as Religious education. I used to go to Church on some Sundays but not regularly. But later with understanding I started going every Sunday.
The True Call: How did it all start? What drew you to Islam ?
Yousuf: Since childhood all my friends were Muslims, The place where we stayed was a Muslim locality. Just as you said in the beginning, in this world there is a lot of misunderstanding about Islam. its not the fault of Non - Muslims, we Muslims are not obeying the rules of Allah or following the footsteps of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) this is the reason we are being let down all over the world. Its all our fault.
During my early days, I used to stay with some Muslims, there was no such thing in them that a person can change by looking at them. The things they used to do, even I did the same.
The True Call: What brought about this sudden change?
Yousuf: It was not all of a sudden. Most of the changes in me have come over the period of last Seven to Eight months. When i was in touch with Missionaries, these people who are fulfilling Allah's will and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). This is the work of Prophets. They are doing such work. I have converted seeing them. They never asked me to convert and become a Muslim. They practice Islam, seeing them many people accept Islam. That time i had gone to play one day cricket, I met a jew who had accepted islam in 1970 / 75 This missionary congregation had gone to California, America. that person converted seeing thier practises.
The True Call: Despite the bad propaganda against Islam. People are still accepting Islam
Yousuf: It is not their fault. It is all our fault. The fault of the Muslims. This is not their fault it is our fault. This is an Islamic country but a person coming from outside he cannot distinguish it as an Islamic country. It is our fault, if we follow Prophet's Sunnah then I feel, that nobody would need to point a finger at the Muslims and say that they are like this or like that.
The True Call: What did you find special about Islam, what appealed you to take this big decision?
Yousuf: I am still new to Islam and learning things. But those people who have inspired me, made me realise that Islam is a complete way of life. It teaches peace, wishing good for everyone we meet, ethics, code of conduct, being good to others, caring for others all the time.
The Missionaries spend their money, their time; they leave their household and travel to invite others to the way of Allah.
This has been the work of prophets. As Muhammad (PBUH) is the last prophet and there is no other prophet to come, so its our job, we Muslims have to call others to the way of Allah. But we sit back at homes. We do not believe in Allah completely, we follow our own way, we decide for ourselves and think we can make things happen, but the fact being that nothing happens without the will of Allah.
The True Call: In the light of recent chaos where there are strikes and protests happening, what according to you should be the stand of Muslims in this scenario?
Yousuf: We have to maintain peace. Protests are necessary, but protests should be carried out peacefully. But we need to rectify ourselves first. Are we leading the lives of true Muslims? Are we leading lives in accordance with the rules set by Allah and the ways taught by Muhammad (PBUH)? We first need to evaluate these. Until we rectify ourselves, others will surely make fun of us.
The True Call: How difficult was the decision? What was the family's reaction to it?
Yousuf: Well, family did react, they were against my reversion. I was speculative that my family members would be angry with me. But the broader thought was, that this world is not our main goal. Success in this world is not the true success, and the failure in this world is not the true failure. Since everyone has to leave the world. The biggest truth in this world is death, and the biggest deception is life.
The True Call: What was your wife's initial reaction when you broke the news of your reversion?
Yousuf: I did not tell her that I have become a Muslim, rather I told her that I am doing a couple of things which in turn are giving me peace and am feeling nice about it. I asked her to go the place where Islamic education is held, and told her if you find anything that is good in it, you can embrace it. Because, there is no compulsion in Islam. Islam has not spread by violence, Islam has spread by love and affection. It has spread for the betterment of humankind. It helps in purifying the thoughts of people so that they get close to Allah.

The True Call: Who deserves the credit of helping you realise this truth? Who played this important role?
Yousuf: I think the people fulfilling Allah's will and following Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), I have come seeing them like Saeed Anwar and many others who are practicing this.
The True Call: MashaAllah ! Pakistani team seems inclined towards Islam as well What brought about this change?
Yousuf: For this very reason... since 8 years I am in Pakistani team but I did not see....
The True Call: What brought about this change?
Yousuf: For this very reason.. for this very reason.. Because of their concern, these people not only in Pakistan but worldwide spread the message so that people come towards Allah's path. They never said come to us or join our community. They only say whenever you get time call people towards Allah's path. In this way not only you correct yourself but also provide a better understanding to the people. Like I have also gone to places with them to spread the message, there are many people who are ignorant and know nothing like me who knows not much but I go for learning to get a better understanding of Islam i.e. How to lead life? etc.
The True Call: What suggestions do you want to give to people, who want to learn the Truth about Islam, but due to some pressures they are afraid. What message do you want to give to them. Is it really a difficult decision?
Yousuf: Actually I have also felt this fact that and also the wise agree that instead of making a Non Muslim a Muslim it is better to make the Muslims Muslim, because making a Non Muslim a Muslim is not difficult. Because in other religions you do not find this much Peace. Because I have come from another faith, where you do not find this much of peace. So it was easy for me to enter this faith. Because of the family there were a few obstacles. But if you see the reality, Islam is the truth and Islam is the true religion.
It is not difficult for a Non Muslim to enter the fold of Islam but to make a Muslim a Muslim, now this is a difficult task.
The message from me to my brothers is: Obey the orders of Allah and adhere to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is not difficult to convince a Non Muslim to become a Muslim.
The True Call: When you were a Christian, What impression did you have of the Muslims?
Yousuf: Seeing the true Muslims one would realise that, Yes! this is a religion.
True Muslims; seeing whom I became a Muslim.
Who obey the orders of Allah and adhere to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
From them it appeared to me that this is a religion.
That this is the true religion.
And this is from Allah.
It is not at all a difficult task. It is we who have made it difficult for ourselves.
We just have to correct ourselves.
If this thought appears that "We have to correct ourselves".
I personally feel everything will be fine on its own.
When I am correct then I will find you good.
If I myself am not correct then I will not find you good.
We should correct ourselves.
The True Call: What are your future plans? Where do you see yourself Ten years from now
Yousuf: If you are talking with respect to Islam then nobody knows about his future. I would like to see myself in Islam
How much life Allah has granted me I will make an effort to spend it in the way of Allah.

Winter: Best season for a believer

 

   

 

 

The righteous people of the past would rejoice with the approach of winter. Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali mentions its virtues in his book Lata’if Al-Ma’arif (pg. 276)

 

Winter is the best season for the believer because Allah strengthens his practice by making worship easy for him. The believer can easily fast during the day without suffering from hunger and thirst. The days are short and cold, and he doesn’t feel the hardship of fasting.

As for praying at night, due to winter’s long nights, one can have his share of sleep and then wake up to pray. He can recite the Qur’an that he usually does in a day while having enough time to sleep. So, it becomes possible to fulfill the interests of both – his religion and the comfort of his body.

 

Abdullah Bin Mas’ud said: “Welcome to winter! Blessings descend in it. Its nights are long to pray, and its days are short to fast.”

 

When it was winter, Ubayd Bin Umayr would say: “O people of the Qur’an! Your nights are now long for you to recite. So, recite! Your days are now short for you to fast. So, fast! Night prayer in the winter equals fasting during the day in the summer.” This is why Mu’adh wept on his deathbed. He said: “I weep because I will miss the thirst I felt when I fasted, praying at night during the winter, and sitting knee to knee with the scholars during the gatherings of knowledge.”

Allah subhaanahu wa ta aala says in in His Book: ...and not to reveal their adornments except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husband's sons, their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islaam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allaah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful. Suratun-Nur 31

The question however now arises in regards to the type of clothing worn in these situations from that which is suitable and allowed.

In this regard several questions were asked to Shaykh Saalih ibn Foazaan ibn Abdullah al Foazaan (May Allah preserve him).

Many women hold an opinion regarding the awrah of a woman infront of another woman is that which is between the navel and the knee. So some of them do not hesitate to wear clothing that very tight or open revealing large portions of the chest and arms. What do you say concerning them?

Answer.
 
What is required from the Muslim women is modesty and shyness, and that she should be a good example to her Muslim sisters, and she should not expose to them except that which is considered normal/befitting for/of righteous Muslim women to show amongst themselves. This is what is initially upon them and is safest for indeed being inattentive and laxed in exposing that which there is no need to expose could lead to further inattentiveness' and carelessness hence leading to that which is forbidden. wa Allahu aalum (and Allah knows best) [1]

Does a woman wearing tight clothes infront of other women come under the hadeeth ((...women who will be clothed yet naked...))?

Answer.
 
There is no doubt that the wearing of tight clothes which reveal the alluring parts of the body is something not permissible, not permissible except for wearing it for her husband only. As for infront of other than her husband then it is not permissible. Even if there is only women present because she will represent as a bad example for them. When they see her doing so they may follow her in it. Also she has been ordered to cover her awrah with that which is loose and a be covered in front of everyone except her husband. So she covers her awrah in front of other women as she does in front of men except that which is considered normal and befitting of her to show amongst other women like the face, hands, feet and that which there is a need to uncover/reveal..[2]

What is the ruling concerning the wearing of clothes which are see thru or tight to the extent that it reveals her bodily parts?

Answer.
 
It is obligatory upon the women that their clothing is not of the likes that it is so thin that the colour of the skin may be seen thru it, neither that it is so tight as to reveal the shape of her bodily parts this is because the Prophet (saw) said: ((Two types of people from the inhabitants of hellfire i have not yet seen: Women covered yet uncovered when they walk they swing their sides/hips, upon their heads resemble the humps of camels they will not enter al jannah nor will they find its scent, and men who have with them whips resembling the tails of cows with them they beat the slave of Allah))[3]

Shaykh ul Islaam ibn Taimiya - may Allah have mercy upon him- in Maj'moo al fataawaa says regarding the statement of the messenger (saws) ((...covered but uncovered...)) means the wearing of clothes that does not cover her so she is clothed but in reality she is naked, like the woman who wears clothing which is thin so as to show her skin or clothing which is tight which clings revealing her bodily parts for example her posterior or the thigh or the likes. Truly the clothing of a woman is that which covers her not showing the shape of her limbs or more than that because it is that which is loose and non transparent. [ 4]

And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him) after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers' (Ummah/Sahaba) ways.  We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell - what an evil destination.  (Surah An-Nisaa 4:115)

SR7.5b Makkah project incorporates Light Rail


MAKKAH A 4.5-km dual-track Light Rail service with a load capacity of 60,000 passengers per hour has been approved to ease traffic congestion in Makkah.

The light train will run all year from Shesha to Ghazza, said Munir Hasan Abbas Sindi, general manager of Doroob Company that has initiated the service as part of a massive project adjoining the Grand Mosque.

Called Darb Al-Mashair, the gigantic SR7.5 billion project includes development of a 1,185,000-sq.km area from Bin Dawood Shesha to Pedestrian Street leading to Mina.

To be developed by 2012 for multipurpose use, including the Light Rail service, the zone will have two 50-story buildings covering 150,000 sq. m., a domed shopping mall of 278,000 sq.m., a 292,000-sq.m. area for hotels, and 293,000 sq.m. for car parking.

Train stations will be built at Shesha and Ghazza, covering 37,000 sq.m. and facing the Holy Mosque, Sindi said The track will be fenced off and pass through pedestrian tunnels. For an uninterrupted stretch of the track, bridges will be built for the rail line to pass over roads. Sindi said the project includes two-way electrically operated  beltways, known as travelators, running up to the doors  of the Holy Mosque.

Darb Al-Mashair project has been approved by the Supreme Council for the Development for the Two Holy Cities and Makkah Mayor Osama Fadl Al-Bar, with the consent of Makkah Emir Prince Khaled Al-Faisal.

To be executed in partnership of the Makkah Municipal Corporation, the project is the fruition of the civil authorities endeavors to engage the private sector in addressing the growing traffic problem in the holy city. SG
 
Haramain Railway gets new steam

Work on the much-awaited Haramain Railway project is expected to start shortly as Saudi authorities will open this month the financial offers made by the four consortia that are bidding for the multibillion riyal contract.
 
The financial offers for the Makkah-Madinah Railway Link (MMRL) project will be opened this month, said Transport Minister Jabara Al-Seraisry. He denied suggestions that new tenders would be invited for the project, adding that the financial offers are made by existing bidders. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah ordered the implementation of the project last February and instructed officials to use Saudi local funds for the purpose. The SR20 billion project will bring about revolutionary changes in the transportation of pilgrims between the two holy cities.
 
The MMRL project, which is designed to operate trains with a speed of over 300 km per hour, would reduce travel time between Jeddah and Makkah to 30 minutes and between Jeddah and Madinah to two hours. The MMRL includes the construction of 450 km of high-speed electrified railway lines between Jeddah and Makkah and between Jeddah and Madinah. The railway will be equipped with advanced signaling and telecommunications systems.
 
The new railway will link the two holy cities with Jeddah and Rabigh as well as King Abdul Aziz International Airport and Jeddah Islamic Port. The Transport Ministry has already identified the railways route.
 
A new railway station will be established at Jeddah Islamic Port, Al-Seraisry said, adding that the MMRL would be linked with the railway linking the Kingdoms east with the west.
 
The minister expected a 40 percent increase in trade and shipping activities at the Jeddah port. It will handle more than six million containers annually. Work is progressing well on a new container terminal at the port at a cost of SR1.6 billion, he said. The new terminal would be ready by the end of this year. Al-Seraisry said the total revenues from Saudi ports reached SR2.5 billion last year while expenditures amounted to SR753 million.

Monorail to Makkah will be in use by next Haj - official

Riyadh: An official at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs said the Monorail project that links Makkah with the holy sites of Mina, Muzdalifa and Arafat will be operational during next year's Haj season. (1431H).

"The project will be fully operational by the Haj of 2012 (1433H)," he told Gulf News. The project, which will cost 6.65 billion Saudi riyals (Dh6.51 billion), will facilitate smooth flow of some three million Haj pilgrims to and from Makkah and the holy sites.

The source, who requested anonymity, said the monorail will accommodate nearly 500,000 pilgrims and will reduce the walking time of six hours to six minutes. "The trains will transport about 60,000 Haj pilgrims in an hour."

There will be three stations at Mina, Muzdalifa and Arafat, linked to the monorail. About 35 per cent of the capacity of the project would be used during the Haj season of 1431H and full capacity by the Haj of 1433H.

China Railway Company has been awarded with the project. The contract was signed in the presence of King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz during the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to Riyadh in February.

for Not going to Hajj

Hajj which is the Fifth Pillar of Islam , we find ways how to postpone it or simply ignore it.

 

 

Excuse # 1:

I am too busy with Work


Some people delay Hajj because they say they can’t find time to take off from work. But don’t they see the very fact that they didn’t take time out for Hajj is the reason why Allah kept them so busy with work?

 

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah says: 'Son of Adam: Fill your time with My worship and I will fill your heart with richness, and end off your poverty. But if you don't, I would make your hands fully busy (i.e. in worldly affairs) and I would not end off your poverty.'" [Sunan Ibn Maajah; Musnad Ahmed; Sunan at – Tirmidhi, who said that it is a Hasan (good) hadeeth; as quoted in ‘The Creation is in Need of Allah’ by Dr. Saleh as-Saleh]

 

And he (peace be upon him) said: “Verily Allah tests His servant with what He has given him. So whoever is content with whatever he has been assigned, then Allah will bless him in it, and give him more! But whoever is not content (with what he has been given), then he will not be blessed in it .” [Musnad Ahmad (5/24); with an authentic chain, as mentioned in al-Sahihah, Number 1658; as quoted in ‘The True Richness’ by Shaykh Abû Ammâr Yasir al-Qadhî]


If you make your intention sincerely for the sake of Allah and do your best to take time from work, Allah will provide it for you. “…And whosoever fears Allâh and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allâh, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allâh will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allâh has set a measure for all things.” [The Noble Qur’an, Soorah At-Talaq 65:3]

 

If we don’t make time for Allah, how can we expect Him to make time for us?

 

 

Excuse # 2:

I am not spiritually ready


Some people say I am not spiritually strong, I am not much of a believer and thus not ready to go or they say I think I should only do Hajj when I have figured out Salah and Zakah and I am practicing Islam fully...


Don’t you see? That is the whispering of the Shaytan in your heart. He does not want you to go and earn all the reward and Jannah. Allah, the Most High, says in the Qur’an, “(Iblîs) said: "Because You have sent me astray, surely I will sit in wait against them (human beings) on Your Straight Path. Then I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (i.e. they will not be dutiful to You)." [The Noble Qur’an, Soorah Al-A'raf 7:16 - 17]

 

Narrated Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him); Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: “Iblees places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments (for creating dissension) ; the nearer to him in tank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. One of them comes and says: I did so and so. And he says: You have done nothing. Then one amongst them comes and says: I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife. The Satan goes near him and says: 'You have done well. A'mash said: He then embraces him.” [Saheeh Muslim, Book 039, Number 6755]


All you got to do is to try hard to improve yourself, putting your trust in Him and surely He will guide you. “As for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our Paths (i.e. Allâh's Religion - Islâmic Monotheism). And verily, Allâh is with the Muhsinûn (good doers).” [The Noble Qur’an, Soorah Al-'Ankabut 29:69]


We all know people who weren’t fully practicing Muslims prior to making the Hajj, yet once they came back from Hajj they went under this amazing transformation and Alhamdulillah they are now practicing fully. So don't think like that, just go.

 

And also remember that no one is perfect, we all make errors, but the key is to strive to do our best. Allah, the Most High, says, “So keep your duty to Allâh and fear Him as much as you can;…” [The Noble Qur’an, Soorah At-Taghabun 64:16] Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "…if I order you to do something, then do of it as much as you can." [Saheeh Bukhaari, Volume 9, Book 92, Number 391; Saheeh Muslim, Book 007, Number 3095]

 

 

 

Excuse # 3:

Yeah, Insha’Allah next year…..next year…..then next year

 

Subhan’Allah, some people have no excuse not to go for Hajj. Yet when you ask them when they are going for hajj, they say “yeah, Insha’Allah next year. But somehow that ‘next year’ never comes.


Don’t be like those people. Make your intention to go for Hajj NOW. Don’t even wait till tomorrow. Do it now and prepare for this journey, while you have the ability. For you never know when death will overtake you or some other trial may befall you that will unable you to go. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Make the most of five things before five (other things happen): your life before you die, your good health before you become sick; your free time before you become busy; your youth before you grow old; and your wealth before you become poor.” [al-Haakim; Classed as Saheeh (authentic) by Sheikh al – Albaani in Saheeh wa Da’eef al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer. Also refer to Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 1077]


Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) once stood at the head of a grave and said to his companion, “If he had a chance to return to this life, what do you think he would do?” His companion replied, “He would do nothing but good deeds.” Ali then said, “If it is not going to be him, then let it be you.” [As quoted in ‘Portrait of a Traveller’ by Muhammad al – Shareef]

 

And some scholars say that if you make sincere intention, but die before you can perform Hajj (or any other good deed), Insha’Allah you will still get the reward. There are many evidences for this, for example, Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him); The Messenger of Allah (peace he upon him) said: “Whoever seeks martyrdom with sincerity shall get its reward, though he may not achieve it.” And in a similar narration, from Sahl b. Aba Umama b. Sahl b. Hunaif, it says, “Who sought martyrdom with sincerity will be ranked by Allah among the martyrs even if he died on his bed.” [Saheeh Muslim, Book 020, Number 4694 & 4695]

 

 

Excuse # 4:

When Allah wants me to come, Allah will call me


Sure, guidance is in Allah’s Hands. Yet you have to work hard to qualify for that guidance. Remember that Allah will not throw the guidance in your lap from up above. It is YOU who has to make the effort. Just like if you are hungry… Allah will not throw the food down from the sky. You have to get up and cook that food.

Allah, the Most High, orders us to make that effort. Allah says: “O you who believe! Do your duty to Allâh and fear Him. Seek the means of approach to Him, and strive hard in His Cause as much as you can. So that you may be successful.” [The Noble Qur’an, Soorah Al-Ma'idah 5:35]

 

When you walk towards Allah, he rushes towards you; Narrate Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him); Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “ Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: I live in the thought of My servant and I am with him as he remembers Me. (The Holy Prophet) further said: By Allah, Allah is more pleased wth the repentance of His servant than what one of you would do on finding the lost camel in the waterless desert. When he draws near Me by the span of his hand. I draw near him by the length of a cubit and when he draws near Me by the length of a cubit. I draw near him by the length of a fathom and when he draws near Me walking I draw close to him hurriedly.” [Saheeh Muslim, Book 037, Number 6610]  - But you need to take the first step.

 

 

Excuse # 5:

It’s too much hard work


Do you realize how much hard work we do for the Dunya (world)? Most of our lives we spend working hard for our studies, our livelihood, our families, our businesses, and we can’t bear to work hard for the Aakhirah (hereafter)? Sure, Hajj is hard work but then, isn’t Jannah (paradise) worth it?

 

Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said, "(The performance of) 'Umra is an expiation for the sins committed (between it and the previous one). And the reward of Hajj Mabrur (the one accepted by Allah) is nothing except Paradise." [(Agreed Upon); Saheeh Bukhaari, Volume 3, Book 27, Number 1; Saheeh Muslim, Book 007, Number 3127]

 

Allah, the Most High, says, “And whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it, with the necessary effort due for it (i.e. do righteous deeds of Allâh's Obedience) while he is a believer (in the Oneness of Allâh Islâmic Monotheism), then such are the ones whose striving shall be appreciated, thanked and rewarded (by Allâh).” [The Noble Qur’an, Soorah Al-Isra 17:19]


'Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allah be pleased with him) is quoted as saying, "I seek Allah's protection from the time when the 'fasiq' or disobedient will have much energy and enthusiasm and the righteous will be lazy." [As quoted in ‘Lazy Boy - It's All in Your Mind!’ by Muhammad al – Shareef]

 

 


Excuse # 6:

It takes too long


Some people use the length of Hajj as an excuse each year for delaying or not going. How long does it take?! Just 2-3 weeks! As if they haven’t taken that much time for vacations?!


To them I want to say, planning is everything. If you plan from now for Hajj next year, you can save up your vacation time and use it for the most important journey of your life. Or you cam just choose an express Hajj package (about 10-14 days). And remember that the stay in Medinah is not a part of Hajj.

 

 


Excuse # 7:

It’s too hot


A Canadian may say it's too cold. An African will say it's too hot. Both are making excuses for not doing good actions. Remember, it was summer in the desert during the time of the Battle of Tabuk, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) was rallying his troops for an exhaustive trip that, back then, would have taken them months. That’s when the hypocrites told the people 'do not go out in the heat'. Allah, the Most High, says, “Those who stayed away (from Tabuk expedition) rejoiced in their staying behind the Messenger of Allâh; they hated to strive and fight with their properties and their lives in the Cause of Allâh, and they said: "March not forth in the heat." Say: "The Fire of Hell is more intense in heat", if only they could understand!” [The Noble Qur’an, Soorah At-Tawbah 9:81]

 

 


Excuse # 8:

I’ll wait until my kids are older/get married


Similarly, Muslims might delay Hajj and give themselves time by saying, "let me wait till my kids are older or till my daughter gets married (and their daughter may only be 5 years old!)... let me wait till I do this, let me wait till I do that.”


This is also just a way of procrastination and nothing else. Remember that hajj is an obligation in Islam. It is fardh (obligatory) upon you. If you have the means and you have not yet done your obligatory hajj, the scholars say that it is better for you to do Hajj, rather than delaying it if your kids are young.

 

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him); The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Hasten to do good deeds before Fitaan (trials and tribulations) come like patches of dark night, where a man will be a believer in the morning and will be a kaafir (disbeliever) by evening, or he will be a believer in the evening and a kaafir by the morning, and one of you will sell hi religion for some trifling worldly gain.” [Saheeh Muslim, Book 001, Number 0213; Musnad Ahmad; Sunan at – Tirmidhi; Refer to Saheeh al – Jaami as – Sagheer, 3/4]

 

Obviously, for the one whose kids are of marriageable age and has just enough money for either Hajj or marriage, the scholars say: “If there is a conflict between the father’s Hajj and the son’s getting married, because the father only has enough money for one of them, then he should look to see whether his son’s marriage is essential right now, or can it be delayed? If the son needs to get married and fears that he may do something Haraam, then getting him married takes precedence over the father’s doing Hajj.”

Beware of Lame Excuses


In a hadeeth, a person came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and asked him, "O Messenger of Allah! Narrate to me a hadith, and make it short!" So he (peace be upon him) replied, “Pray your prayer as if it is your last, as if you are seeing Him (Allah), for even if you do not see Him then He sees you. And give up hope (of obtaining) what other's possess, then you will live a rich life. And beware of anything that you might (later) have to make an excuse for.” [Imam Bukhari in his al-Tarikh (3/216), and al-Tabarani in his al- Awsat (# 4588) and others. Al-Haythami, in his Majma al-Zawaid (10/ 229) said: "There are, in its chain, people that I do not know." However, this narration has supporting evidences, including the hadith of Sa d ibn Abi Waqqas, and 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (in al-Tabarani's al-Awsat, # 5907), due to which Sheikh al-Albaani considered it acceptable in his al-Sahihah (# 1914); As quoted in ‘The True Richness’ by Shaykh Abû Ammâr Yasir al-Qadhî]

 

 

And It is Only Allah Who grants success. May Allah Exalt the mention of His slave and Messenger Muhammad, and render him, his household and companion safe from Evil

To whom do we complain?

 

   

 

 

The ignorant among us complain to people about Allah, and this is the highest degree of ignorance. If one knew his Lord, he would never complain about Him; and if knew the (reality of) people, he would not complain to them.

 

One of the predecessors saw a man complaining to another man about his poverty and dire necessity, so he said to him, “O you! By Allah, you have done nothing but complain about He who has mercy for you, to someone who has no mercy for you.”

 

A poet said: When you complain to a son of Adam, verily you complain about the Most Merciful, to the one who does not have any pity.

 

On the contrary, a person who is profoundly knowledgeable about Allah complains to Allah alone, and never to the people. He complains about the causes because he knows the verses:

 

“And whatever of misfortune befalls you it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much.” (Qur’an, 42:30)

 

“Whatever of good reaches you, is from Allah but whatever of evil befalls you, is from yourself.” (Qur’an, 4:79)

 

“(What is the matter with you?) When a single disaster smites you, although you smote (your enemies) with one twice as great, you say: ‘From where does this come to us?’ Say (to them), ‘It is from yourselves (because of your evil deeds).’ And Allah has power over all things.” (Qur’an, 3:165)

 

The lowest of people complain about Allah to His creatures, while the highest of people complain about their own-selves to Allah.

As-Safa and al-Marwa

 
 
Running to Remember a Mother
and Her Trust in Allah
 
 

Muslims who perform the Hajj or Umra must run in the middle portion of the distance between Safa and Marwa seven times.

 

Safa and Marwa are two hills close to the Kaaba.

 

This is a commemoration of one mothers sacrifice for her son.

 

That mother was Hajira (may Allah be pleased with her). Her son was the Prophet Ismail (peace be upon him). Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was Hajiras husband, and Ismails father.

 

Hajiras example of sacrifice took place when she and her baby was left in the valley of Makkah by Allahs order as pioneers to start a civilization.

 

Here was the wife of a Prophet, the princess of the king of Egypt, left with her child in the desert. All for the sake of pleasing our Creator.

 

As Prophet Ibrahim headed for his next responsibility from Allah, he reached an area where Hajira and Ismail could not see him. At that point, he turned back, raising his hands in Dua and said,

"O Our Lord! I have made of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation by Your Sacred House; in order Our Lord, that they may establish regular Prayer: so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, and feed them with fruits, so that they may give thanks." (Quran 14:37).

 

Hajira returned to her place and started drinking water from the water-skin, and her milk increased for her child.

 

But when she had used up all of the water, she ascended the Safa hill and looked, hoping to see somebody.

 

The area was empty.

 

She came down and then ran up to Marwa hill. She ran to and fro (between the two hills) many times, then went to check on her baby Ismail.

He was dying. And she could find no water for him or herself.


She could not watch her son perish. How could any mother ?

If I go and look, I may find somebody, she told herself. Then she went and ascended the Safa hill and looked for a long while but could not find anybody.

 

In all,Hajira ran seven rounds between Safa and Marwa, in the hot, waterless valley, where her thirsty baby lay.

 

She told herself to go back and check on Ismail. But suddenly she heard a voice: it was the Angel Jibreel.

 

"Help us if you can offer any help," she said to him.

 

The angel hit the earth with his heel and water gushed out. Hajira was astonished and started digging.

Allah, as she had rightly proclaimed, had not abandoned them.

 

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), in the Hadith in Bukhari in which much of this incident is narrated, said, "If she (Hajira) had left the water, (flow naturally without her intervention), it would have been flowing on the surface of the earth."

 

Today we are bearing the fruits of this mothers struggle and sacrifice. Many of us drink and have drunk from the well of Zamzam. And those of us who have made Hajj run in a much more comfortable way than Hajira ever did, between Safa and Marwa.

 

Her commitment to her son, her sense of urgency and her unshakable faith in Allah in such harsh circumstances are all examples of not only what an excellent mother she was, but also what a strong believer in Allah she was.

 

If youre going to Hajj this year, Insha Allah, remember this incident and think of that great mother, in whose memory Muslims today run between Safa and Marwa.

 

Also think about your own mother, and how she too, would probably have done the same for you.

O Woman Of East!

Remember the time when you were in hands of beasts,
Remember when your body was no more than a feast!
Remember when the souls were buried with the dead,
Remember when there was no wisdom in the.. .heads!
Remember the time when the hearts were stone hard,
Remember the time when the chastity, had no guard!
Remember the time when you strangled all your sighs,
Remember when all the tears dried out in your eyes!

Then,

Remember when SOMEONE held fast your...trembling hands,
Remember from your grave, you were pulled out on the land!
Remember that you were dressed with the clothes of dignity,
Remember a veil was drawn... over the gaze of impurity!
Remember the revolution....that you brought into the world,
Remember how motherhood, ... shapened straight, the curled!
Remember how you made the human out of the....... animals,
Remember how you created a society out of ......a jungle!

Now!

You prefer the death over the life you were blessed with,
You forgot... to wear the clothes your were dressed with!
You left all the modest values aside,.. copying the West,
You forgot your very own self,... the pure,.. the best!
Go and search for the coffin you left beside your grave!
And wear that shame to be alive, if you really are brave!
Dont forget the lessons of history,... O woman of East!
Dont try to make, out of yourself, a feast for the beasts!
