Re: [Alibata] pasko para pandacan
God forbid but we cannot tell what happens next. A fireworks factory just blew out in Trese Martires, Cavite. When will they ever learn.

i have just returned from d.c. where the many lessons and revelations that have been and continue to be articulated and related are in abundance. indeed, the concept of property rights and who has claim to the land and its use have been here even before the power of industry took over. pandacan is home to over 84,000 kababayans who have few option of where they must reside. industry faces ethical and public health responsibilities if it wants to continue to have a glorified image of being a friend to the environment, as it subliminally tells its customers and the tv viewing public. chevron's commercials in the u.s. are disgustingly deceptive as even the nearby city of richmond, ca can attest to how this kind and benevolent corporation have not even paid equity taxes to the city, while occupying and rimmed the greater sf bay with its identical oil depots to those in pandacan. for more

That will not be the case. Fort Bonifacio has been converted to wot not. Safety of the people must be the first priority. If they own the whole area, they have the right of way.

Mawalang galang na nga po but this issue has been around for decades. I think the problem here is that the oil companies have a fixed date concession that nothing can be done about it until it expires. And I think they got there first before the barangays so maybe they have the right of way. Just my two bits. -rey

the year and this month is nearing its end, and this is a gentle reminder that i began this month with a pledge to sing xmas carols for a project of filipino american coalition for environmental solidarity (faces). pandacan is a community in manila, 5 barangays with 80,000+ residents who live among oil depots, very similar to those in richmond, ca. faces meets with organizers to relocate these chevron and shell depots that are contaminating and polluting the places where people live. please consider a donation, no matter how small, to faces/pandacan. for more information, you can go to the link http://www.facessol idarity.org/ to help. we would greatly appreciate any tax deductible donation you can make by dec. 31. manigong bagong taon sa 2009! in case you missed the xmas carols go to this link for a taste of xmas in the
