The Albany, NY ReUseIt group is an online forum for making connections between community members to help each other, themselves, and their environment. In a society where many still-useful items are discarded, the ReUseIt Network helps move things from people who have them but don't want them to people who want them but don't have them.

Our goal is to keep useable items out of the trash. Real trash should be properly disposed of. The ReUseIt Network encourages those looking for an item to ask for it. "WANTED" requests may jog the memory of someone who has an item in storage waiting to be used. It's a great way to reduce clutter!

Here are the essential rules:

--The format for subject headers is:

OFFER: Item (Pickup Location)

Or, WANTED, RECEIVED, TAKEN.

--All WANTEDs and OFFERs must be free! Trading, buying or selling is not allowed. Disclose any intention to sell.

--Pet postings are not allowed.

--All posts must be free, legal and appropriate for all ages.

--Safety first! Do not put your home address or phone # on postings.

--Be courteous: Abuse of any member will not be tolerated!

--Do not offer things at the curb or someone else’s items. There are liability issues with this.

--No business signatures or links.

--Please do not request the same items repeatedly - limit to once a month for WANTEDs.

--Be respectful and keep commitments.

--Garage sales, events, coupons or points, information posts, service offers or requests are not appropriate for ReUseIt. Other Capital Region boards exist for this, such as The Teacup Cafe at

-- If possible, balance WANTED posts with OFFERs, either on ReUseIt or The Tea Cup Cafe. Everyone has something to share: coupons, tutoring, crafting ideas, etc.
