Sat hike July 11th 8:30 carpool time - reed lakes

I’m inviting you all to join me on this hike Sat.   Judith Bendersky

elevation gain is between near point and little o'Malley, at 1,850 ft. and i know since I've done this twice that you can too! Idea is to make it to lower or upper Reed Lake, your choice, to enjoy the day and find a pace-mate so everyone can enjoy a beautiful day just an hour away from anchorage. the smells, sounds and views of Hatcher Pass are a fun change from the anchorage chugach and now's the time to explore. Let's meet at 8:30 by parking close to the gas station at fred meyer's muldoon to carpool. We drive on Glenn Highway past Palmer, turn left onto Palmer-Fishhook Road, then to Archangel Road on a real bumpy road, so it's good if people w SUV's drive vs. low sedans. If we meet at trailhead to start hiking 10:30 we'll get to lower Reed Lake for lunch; optional hike a bit more to upper lake, then down, picking our way around or over a great boulder field. Optional stop at Motherlode Lodge for dinner and back into anchorage late afternoon/early evening Sat. Bring all the usual sensible alaska gear including day pack with rain gear, good boots, layers to warm up or shed off, camera, trekking poles, dogs are okay, big kids; food for your lunch and goodies to share for another peak buffet. call if questions before the morning of the hike    call Judith to rsvp or with questions  230-1935

Subject: Trying to reach Cheryl Rapp

Hi There- My name is Theresa Peters and I used to live in Homer Alaska and Fairbanks. I was trying to Google an old friend named Cheryl Rapp and got directed to the Alaska-outdoors.org site. On the home page is a group photo and I think I can just make out Cheryl in the picture- but could not find her anywhere else (mind you I haven't searched every photo yet!). Anyways sorry to email you but couldn't find another 'contact us' page. If you know of Cheryl could you please pass on my email to her. I now live in New Zealand and haven't been back to Alaska since 1995! If you don't know Cheryl- well your loss and sorry for the trouble. Cheers- Theresa
