Description
For those who have or who want to experience the joys of adoption. Living in Okinawa brings its own special challenges to adopting. Here we can support one another and share information.
****Want to learn more about adopting while living in Okinawa?****
FREE Adoption Workshops are held on Camp Foster three times a year. Participants receive information from the US Consulate in Naha, a developmental pediatrician, a counselor, EFMP staff, a financial counselor, and a representative from the Okinawa Adoption Support Group. This workshop is a general overview of adoption possiblities and covers US infant domestic adoption, international adoption, and adopting from US foster care. YES, all those options are open to you while living in Okinawa.
The workshop is just the beginning, however. You will need to conduct your own research to determine what is best for your family.
If you are planning an International Adoption in a HAGUE country, you need 10 hours of adoption training. Currently, this workshop gets you 7 hours of FREE training. You will receive a certificate that certifies the number of hours with an explanation of the topics covered. You CANNOT get this kind of FREE training in the United States.
**The next adoption workshop is scheduled for 26 May 2009 at the Camp Foster Chapel Center, Bldg 455. Starting NOW, you can contact the EFMP staff on Camp Foster to make your reservation for this workshop. ALL BRANCHES AND RANKS, DOD CIVILIANS AND CONTRACTORS, ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.**
