Description

Welcome to the Yahoo Group for Adoptive Parents (and parents-to-be) of Children with Cerebral Palsy. Together, we hope we can create a caring and supportive community to celebrate the unique challenges and joys of parenting our children with Cerebral Palsy.

Our group will be moderated both to prevent take-over by spam and to stimulate discussion of relevant topics, including medical concerns, assistive technology, parenting strategies, how-to adoption issues, special education, advocacy training and resources, community inclusion services, funding possibilities for adoption and other special needs, and futures planning.

We hope all of our members will watch for and post information –or referrals to information sources—about adoptive situations of children with Cerebral Palsy (international or domestic, private, re-homing, agency, attorney, foster/adopt, or interstate exchange) or very similar special needs. Success stories about children or adults with Cerebral Palsy participating in community life will be especially appreciated!!! Please also feel free to post your own family photos, links, resources, etc. in the sections designed for them.

We ask that each member begin by introducing themselves and their families and explaining why they have chosen to join this group. Adoption professionals should identify themselves and their affiliations in all posts. Prospective Adoptive Families are encouraged to share about their dreams to adopt, why they are considering adoption of a child with Cerebral Palsy, and the age(s), gender(s), race(s) and degree of special needs they might consider, so that we can pass on to them any help, emotional support or referrals to appropriate situations that might come to our attention.
