The Academic and Research Community traditionally played an imortant role in advancing justice and human rights throughout the world. Examples include our work against Apartheid in South Africa and for human righte and self determination in many countries. This group is intended to exchange information between academicians and researchers on these issues especially with regards to the situation in the Middle East. There seems to be an interest in this as illustrated by the hundreds who have signed onto the personal pledge/petition to boycott contact with Israeli academics and researchers until Israel complies with International law. This LOW TRAFFIC forum will help advance similar actions and collaborative efforts. It will be a forum for the community of human rights advocates at schools, universities, and research institutions to post key announcements of direct interest to academics and researchers that are action oriented. This will NOT be a listserve for chats or a high traffic discussion forum. Crossposting is also not fair to our members and messages that do not adhere to these rules will be deleted.
