If you go to the following URL you can see a 1956 photo showing the remains of a pretty unique round concrete airfield. This was the Sheep Ranch OLF of NAS

When considering the octagon landing fields, there are several things that need to be understood: 1.) 1700'-1800' is more than adequate for the Navy trainers
