I am new to this group, so please bear with me if my problem has been dealt with before. I have two certificates, one for my previous call M3ERE (valid till 2012-03-03) and one for my present call M0PSK (valid till 2012-03-04). Till now I have only used LoTW on my shack desktop, where it works perfectly. I want to be able to use it on my laptop, for portable use. Following instructions on the internet I did the following

1. In tQSL Certificates: right click on the M0PSK certificate
2. Click "Save" in the resulting dialogue box
3. Enter the password (twice) for the PKCS#12 file
4. Enter password to unlock the private key

The result is an error message saying the M0PSK certificate has expired. Exactly the same thing happens when I repeat the exercise for the M3ERE certificate. I would appreciate any advice on this apparent contradiction.

Upgrade to tQSL 1.13 from ARRL site, problem fixed in that release.

Many thanks for very fast replies from Rick K1MU, Jeff NJ2F and John W8JMF, all
of whom pointed out that my problem would disappear (as indeed it did) on
upgrading the TrustedQSL software to the latest version 1.13.

Hi! I was wondering if there is any way (short of downloading an ADIF file
from my LOTW account and going through it QSO by QSO)to identify whether my 80M
DXCC credit is from CW or SSB? The matrix unfortunately doesn't go into that
much detail(wish it could!)

Thanks & 73, John NZ9Z

John,

Click on the 80M award line under account status. Activate the all credits
button and click on the Select button. Then you can click on the QSO in
question and get the details.

Hi John,

When you are under the Awards tab on LOTW, it does show your entire tally, for
both LOTW and paper cards. Just select the "All credits" radio button on the
"Account Credits" screen.

And there is a way to tell the difference too. When on the QSL details, a LOTW
credit it says "QSO Detail" (which is a typo on their part, since it is actually
a QSL :-) ) and for a paper card it says "QSL Card Detail".

Yes, Wes -- I was just noticing that most were not the typical LOTW style of QSL
details. I see that another way you can spot the LOTW QSL's on the Accounts
Credit page is that the LOTW callsigns are regular typeface. The QSL paper card
credits are in bold.

Thanks and 73, John

That's true, but if the call is regular typeface that also means it wasn't
applied to an award yet. Once applied to an award, the call becomes bold
typeface.

No, works for cards also. Detail record will tell you whether it was a card or
LotW. Unless it's a really, really old credit maybe... Before computerization?
Not sure about that...

Hello All..

Please can I first introduce myself, and say thanks to the group admin and mods.

I'm Kev Haworth, M0TNX/MR0TNX/2E0XTC, spend a lot of time portable near the
beach and using vertical antennas. I signed up for LoTW in December 2010, I
should have done it years ago!

I am actively chasing my mixed DXCC, and then after that, I will concentrate on
160 DXCC, around 8 years ago I had a hard drive crash, which lost my details of
some 160 plus countries worked, I have backd up ever since!

Please could you advise me on the following, does LoTW automatically convert
times submitted to UTC, or is it best to log in UTC as a matter of course? I'm
new to HRD and have only just found the setting to set the clock to UTC, hence,
some logs are out of schedule with other users..

I'm on 86 confirmed now, and pushing hard for the 100, so please, if you hear me
on the bands, do come and say Hi!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Kev

I dont think LOTW converts anything to anything, it is basically a storgare place for logs and has the capacity to compare logs and find a match - hence you get a confirmed QSO.   For Amateur Radio purposes it is much better to keep you log to UTC or GMT whichever you prefer to call it.

LOTW in comparing logs to agree QSOs has a time window or around 20 minutes I believe, by which I mean that if your log differs from the log of the DX station by more than 20 minutes - then LOTW will fail to find a match.

So it is important that your PC is on the correct time and I suggest always UTC/GMT.   There are programmes out there you can download to run in the back ground which will lock your PC to GMT/UTC - like "Atomic Clock".   I always have one running in the background of my radio PC.

Hope this helps - good luck - feel free to email direct off group.

Kev,

LoTW records must be in UTC (see TQSL HELP). If not, you will not get matched QSOs. Fix your times and re-upload. no need to delete the ones with bad times. There is no delete process on LoTW. The bad Qs will just never be matched.

Hi Kev and welcome to LoTW. :-)

Sorry to hear about your data loss, but I'm glad to hear that you are back in
the game again.

Times are in UTC and must be within 30 minutes of the other contact to match:

A couple of days back the group solved a specific problem with the TrustedQSL software on my shack desktop. (The solution was to upgrade to the  latest version 1.13, which I did.) I'm afraid I have to ask for help again.

The objective was to enable me to use LoTW from a laptop, running Vista SP2. I  installed the same version of TrustedQSL on the laptop, without problems. I  then saved the certificates for my two calls M3ERE and M0PSK on the desktop,  transferred them to the laptop, and loaded the two files into TQSLCert. Still no  problems. It remained to add the station locations in TQSL. I started with my  present call M0PSK, and produced a station location called M0PSK (Home), still  without problems.

The next step was to deal with M3ERE. In detail: I clicked "Station|Add  Location", chose the call sign M3ERE, entered the same station information I  had entered for M0PSK, and clicked "Next". In the main pane I saw Home (M0PSK),  the location I had already constructed. Under "Station Location Name" I typed  Home, as before, and clicked Finish. Now comes the problem. When I click  "Station|Edit Locations" I only see M3ERE-Home. By contrast, when I do this on  the desktop I see both M3ERE-Home and M0PSK-Home. Any advice will be welcome.

Hi Chris,

I'm not sure why it would be different between the laptop and desktop, but I suggest you do not use the same name ("Home") for the two locations, even though they should be distinguished by the callsign, it appears that the name is used as a key. Suggest you name one of them something like "M3ERE@Home" and the other "M0PSK@Home"), so you'll end up with "M3ERE - M3ERE@Home", etc., in the display.

I noticed that two Q's from 4A4A on 12 and 17 meters ( as shown next to
date/time did not link up with my log. Interestingly, in the frequency
column, I see 21.00100 on both Q's. Any ideas?????? Does my log see
the 12 and 17 meters or is it looking for the frequency.

Just saw the note from ARRL saying that the operation had been

That XF4 was #100 for me on RTTY makes it even better!

My three 9N7AN QSO's are showing in LOTW as a match but when I look at the DXCC Application my 17m cw qso is not showing in the list even though  the table shows that I have never worked Nepal on 17m. Why is this matched QSO not appearing in the application list. Is this a software glitch?

If I do a 9N7AN search it is showing my 3 qso's but the 17m contact is not listed as Nepal. LOTW doesn't seem to know that 9N7AN is Nepal for that contact. Maybe the 9N7AN log wasn't filled in correctly before it was uploaded.   Who should I contact at Head Office?

How did you determine that your three QSOs were matched? It appears that, in fact, your 17m QSO did NOT match for a QSL...

No, if it matched, there would be a QSL date/time below "Frequency".
You should see that in the detail for the other two QSOs. What you're
looking at is merely the QSO data that you loaded. You are in the
9N7AN online log for 17m CW, so double-check the date/time of your
QSO, and if you're sure about it, try contacting DL4SVA....
