Vickie, did this student not have the alternative of simply opting out of the
school uniform policy entirely? I was under the impression that public school
students could opt out of uniforms, which is the reason many schools (such as
Athens ISD) have adopted "standardized dress codes" without calling them
uniforms, per se. What am I missing?
Thanks, Larry

What an idiot this superintendent is -- Is this why they pay him the big bucks?
In one statement he says the uniform is for everyone -- NO EXCEPTIONS -- but
this is of course after he's already said they've compromised and have been
flexible and have allowed kids to wear sweaters when it was cold. Sounds like an
exception to me. This is just another example of an administrator waiving his
magic wand when he wants to. He made exceptions when he believed it was cold,
but wouldn't when he didn't think it was cold. How are kids going to determine
how to operate without him to tell them when they are cold or not? Doesn't he
believe his students have the ability to determine for themselves when they were
cold?
This is what happens when you put stupid people in charge of schools.
"Laboy said being a good student has nothing to do with obeying school
policy" But at least he admits their program has nothing to do with making
better students. They are just trying to make blindly obedient little citizens
who don't have the ability to make decisions for themselves. They just need to
do as they are told -- little Steppford people.
