Dear Editor,
(If I am sending this to the wrong department, would you be good
enough to forward it please.)
My father was in Holland at the time of its emancipation from
the Germans. He was in Apeldoorn. He was unable to attend the
ceremonies recently held there because he died when I was only 10
years old. He had left his young wife and infant daughter (my older
sister) to spend six years fighting the Germans and their allies. He
had survived the war, but died of cancer when he was only 41. He
never talked about the horrors he had witnessed during those years
I was born in 1947 and, because of his early death, never had a
chance to ask him anything about his experiences. My mother (now
deceased as well) told me that he spent time living with a family in
Apeldoorn. I am wondering if anyone in Apeldoorn might remember
him. His name was Harold Pearson. I think his rank was Sgt., but I'm
not sure. If anyone has any information about his time there, I
would be very grateful to hear about it. I take great pride in the
fact that he fought so that we may enjoy the freedom our generation
enjoys.
Anyone with any information can reach me at:
