Description

NYC Attachment Parenting International (API) is the NYC Chapter of Attachment Parenting International (www.attachmentparenting.org) a non-profit, grassroots organization whose mission is to educate and support all parents in raising secure, joyful and empathic children in order to strengthen families and create a more compassionate world.

Modern parents seek the best information in order to provide their children the ability to reach their fullest potential.

Research shows that securely attached children have imperfect, yet healthy and adaptable relationships with their primary caregivers. These relationships are the basis of optimal emotional-social development that in turn promotes empathy, learning, resilience and general well being. For life.

API stands alone in delivering essential, practical, evidence-based attachment information paired with regular, free, face-to-face, facilitated support for parents in their unique process. Flexible and accessible formats help build lasting skills and confidence.

NYC API offers monthly, child-friendly parent meetings facilitated by API accredited peer-leaders. We approach common parenting topics from the new, flexible perspective of building and maintaining secure attachments.

API's Eight Principles of Attachment Parenting translate beneficial research into practical information and apply to every age of child and every family type and parenting "style":

1. Prepare for Pregnancy, Birth, and Parenting
2. Feed with Love and Respect
3. Respond with Sensitivity
4. Use Nurturing Touch
5. Engage in Nighttime Parenting
6. Provide Consistent and Loving Care
7. Practice Positive Discipline
8. Strive for Balance in Personal and Family Life

We hope you'll join us online or in a meeting soon!
