Hi! Welcome to APEU of Surrey & Hampshire, UK (Attachment Parenting Europe). We are Diana and Beckie. We have monthly meetings discussing AP such as: responding to the needs of your baby, breastfeeding on demand, extended breastfeeding, child-led weaning, co-sleeping and safety, babywearing, positive discipline (no spanking), elimination communication, child-centeredness and many, many more. We usually meet in the Camberley/Aldershot - UK area, although this can vary, depending on the needs of the group. On this list we announce when we meet and where as the dates are all put into the Calendar area. We usually meet on a Thursday morning, except in August.

The basis of attachment parenting believes that if we meet the needs of our babies now and they develop a secure attachment to us, then they will become more independent lateron in life. This means to be responsive to your baby....don't let them "Cry It Out", sleep with your baby at night, let them breastfed for as long and as often as they want, hold and wear your baby as much as possible. You will NOT spoil them. Women have been parenting this way since the beginning of time. Learn to trust your instinsts. If they can't get their needs met by their Mama, then who can they possibly trust later in life.

We would eventually also like to start a playgroup for children of various ages and then meeting for that at a playground or alternatively meet at some-ones house. This is still to be started, it is at the moment still an idea.

Furthermore for people from far away we would like to make you aware of the following group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AP-GB. This group is focussed on the UK and therefore probably more suitable for people who will not be able to attend our meetings due to the distance.
