This is the Yahoo Group for members of the Adams Point Action Council (APAC), and for people who live in, work in, or are interested in the affairs of the Adams Point neighborhood of Oakland, California. The Adams Point neighborhood corresponds with beat 14X of the Oakland Police, which falls under OPD Police Command Area #2 as of January 2008. Adams Point lies within Oakland City Council District 3, within Oakland Unified School District Board of Education District 3, within Alameda County Board of Supervisors District 5, within California State Assembly District 14, California State Senate District 9, and US Congressional District 9.

Anyone may join the group. Posts made by new members are moderated.

The following guidelines apply to postings on the Yahoo Group:

3. Keep descriptors as neutral as possible. Do not use charged terms or derogatory language in a malicious manner.
4. Stay focused on topics pertaining directly to the neighborhood as much as possible.
5. Unless your reply is intensely personal, please reply to the list rather than the individual poster, so we can all benefit from your contribution. Ex. - recommendations of businesses, etc. are of interest to many people on the listserv.
6. Limit attachments to avoid viruses.

These guidelines, especially #s 4 and 5 are obviously not hard and fast rules. The overarching goal of the guidelines is to help foster a positive online community and to prevent rancor.
