The New York - North Jersey Chapter of AMC Backpacking offers a wide range of backpack trips throughout the year. Our favorite areas include the Catskills, Adirondacks, Taconics, Berkshires, Eastern Pennsylvania and sometimes Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. We offer backpacks in all 4 seasons, and for all levels of ability and experience.

You must register for our backpack trips. Go to the Backpack Schedule page at www.amc-ny.org to find trip descriptions and register online. The AMC website also has gear lists, low impact guidelines and other useful information.

Participants must be experienced hikers, in good or excellent physical condition and have all the required equipment. Read the descriptions carefully to see if they are suitable for your abilities and contact the leaders if you have any questions. There are risks associated with backpacking. Although our trips have experienced leaders, you should recognize that you are responsible for your safety and the safety of the group.
