The Amazon Adventurers were founded in January, 1999 and in February the adventures began with a very windy day hike at "The Pinnacles" in Berea! Since then we have tried to hold a trip, big or small, every month! We've hiked at Raven Run, a local nature preserve, and we've explored the depths of Mammoth Cave! Some of us even hope to canoe to the Arctic Circle in August... The Amazons are open to *all* women - young and old, short or tall, thick or thin - and we do not discriminate based upon race, religion, sexual orientation, family status, or any other issue that others in this world seem to have such trouble with. If you're a good and open-minded individual and you want to have fun in the woods with other women, then you are welcome in the Amazons! Right now we have a wonderfully diverse group - I couldn't have done better if I'd hand picked them! The group is very casual - there are no "officers" and no dues other than whatever money you yourself need to get to and from trips. There is also only one rule:anyone who shows up for an event or meeting drunk or chemically altered will be used as firewood! But that's it. My only rule:)
