Two birders reported hearing and seeing a Willow Flycatcher on the lower
stretches of the Moose River on Wed. July, 8th around 10 am. I went down this
morning to try and confirm the sighting and was unable to relocate the bird. I
will probably make a few more attempts to the same area. One of the birders was
familiar with the song and said the bird ssng several times at close range. I
visited the site from 6:30 to 7:30 on the 9th with no luck.
The site was on the west side of the Moose River on Moose River Dr. Go .23
miles and you will see a small parallel rd take off on the right. Follow that
an additional .12 miles to where the pipeline intersects and follow the pipeline
toward the river. There is a cable across the road and the bird was an
additional 75 meters down in the turnaround area at the river.
Please report any additional sightings/recordings to me at the Refuge.
