AFMEDIA stands for African mass media. It is a network of media practitioners, journalists (both print and broadcast) communication researchers, government and non government information officers, journalism and/or communication educators and anyone whose primarily occupational activity is to research, write and report or publish information to a mass audience or readership.
The purpose of AFMEDIA is to afford members an opportunitry to exchange ideas, comments, suggestions and experiences in African journalism, mass media of communication research. Topicsa for discussion include freedom of the press in the African context, currently problems and challenges in practicing journalism in Africa today; the future of African journalism or media/communication research.
Members may pose questions or make suggestions on journalism ethics, rights and responsibilities, journalism and the Internet, journalism education, reporting politics in Africa, journalism and culture, etc.
