The Arab American Student Association (AASA) is a non-political, non-religious, non-profit organization that was founded in 1996 by a group of students who recognized the importance of an organized and responsible representation of Arab students, regardless of gender, religion and nationality. The main goals of the AASA are to maintain Arab unity and identity in a college environment and to promote, appreciate, and recognize the cultural aspects of both the Arabian Nations and the Americas. Another objective is to increase the interaction between the Arab youth, other Arab organizations, and community members to guarantee a high level of communication and performance that services the best interests of our beloved community. The collegiate level constitutes a sensitive crossing point in young people's lives as it embodies people of many different backgrounds and cultures. Interaction with representatives of foreign cultures in this environment is often mandatory and acknowledging the existence of a people from different countries is constantly imposed upon college students as organizations are continuously promoting their respective cultures, traditions, foods, music,and language. It was important to establish this association at the university level to accuratly reflect the Arab people's many viewpoints and perspectives. Since the founding of the AASA, we have proudly been able to say that our organization's attempts of uniting Arab students and the community in general has been a success.
