Find below the Launch announcement from Mark. I'll make a few minor additions:

a> Jeff Short will have Aerotech hardware and reloads available at the launch.
CTI and AMW to follow soon.
b> Stu Barrett will have RoadRunner motors available as well.
c> I know the forcast this far out isn't worth much but it's looking to be a
really pretty day. High of 74, low of 54, winds under 8mph all day.

Come on out and join us for some FUN!
Jeff

SPECIAL NOTE FOR CHILDREN: ************

We wish to emphasize safety on the range and we are particularly
concerned about the safety of the children that we welcome and enjoy
at our launches. Children enjoy model rocketry and often are very
excitable, particularly when endeavoring to chase their rocket after
it has landed.

Parents and Guardians should pay special attention to their youngster
and be midful that often the range is still active after the launch
of any particular project from the pads. Please remind your young'un
to wait at the flight line until the LCO, Parent/Guardian (or other
mindful adult) indicates that it is safe to leave the flight line
(for any reason).

While the pads are active and flights are occuring, participants and
spectators need to pay attention to any flights that are occuring,
and rockets that are coming back to earth. Particpants should be at
the flight line and observing the pads as launches are being
performed.

Children are very interested in the little buttons at the Launch
Control table. If your child is inclined to permeate informal/social
barriers, please be mindful that the operations area of the Field is
responsible for range safety and is NOT a play area.

--------------------------------------------
HEALTH SAFETY:

The weather conditions may be moderate at the field, but be prepared with
drinking water. At the range, you should consider yourself in the
wilderness.

Bring your own shade. The shade at the operations tables is limited
and is for members performing range duty.

If you anticipate going into the forest after your project, long
pants and covered footwear is suggested (Shorts and Sandals is NOT a
good idea).

Children:

I would suggest that special attention be paid to the attire of your
children, as they are particularly vulnerable to unprotected feet and
legs, and the heat (less surface area per body mass is less efficient
in cooling the body). "Crocs" are NOT recommended. Children treat
rocketry as a track and field event!

It doesn't seem far sometimes, but hiking for 30 - 45
minutes (working hard) in even moderate temperatures without shade
can take it out of you, quick. I suggest a canteen, camel-back, or
other water bottle/container that is comfortable to hike with during
recovery operations in order to prevent dehydration and discomfort.

Everyone hates to call a launch but the weather forcast is just ugly for all
day. With thunderstorms predicted our Launch Manager has done the right thing
and canceled this launch.

Stay home and build some rockets or just enjoy the rain!

----- Original Message ----

Just a followup. The weather is looking pretty poor for rocketry this weekend. I
expect the launch directory to make a go/nogo call sometime Friday evening.
Please watch the groups for further info.
Note: I have a football game tomorrow night so if the call comes after 5 or so I
may not get it out to everyone until 10-11pm.

We are supposed to have a launch this weekend however the burn ban is still in
effect and there is only a slight chance of rain this week. I think we are going
to have to call this launch off just like last month.

On the upside there is a very good chance that we may be able to launch in Hutto
on 8/15 (or is it 8/22 ?). Expect more information to come out about this launch
as the date gets closer.

Turns out Burnet County is under a burn ban, it was enacted this week.

I hope we get some rain, otherwise the launch will have to be canceled. Even
though our activities are pretty safe from a fire standpoint the risk is not
zero and the cost of a fire is just too high.

Start praying, dancing, whatever you do - for RAIN!

Well by popular demand, by a wide margin, the July launch will be planned for
July 18th. I need to get with the landowner and make sure that date is good with
him. I'll post a reply as soon as I hear back.

CLE Enterprises will have a bunch of motors for sale at the launch. In inventory
are Aerotech single use as well as hardware and reloads for various 29 and 38mm
Aerotech motors. Animal Motor Works and CTI products will be coming later.

I will have Stu's stash of RoadRunner single use F/G 29mm motors available
(since Stu cannot make this launch).

The Austin Area Rocketry Group is launching THIS Saturday, June 6, 2009 at our
new site
in Bertram TX. Due to issues out of my control the web site has not been updated
yet with
the new information but I hope to get that done this week. So for now the
directions to the
field are:

The address is 1208 CR 260, Bertram, TX. The GPS co-ordinates for his
house are : N 30deg 46.048', W 98deg 4.713'

Directions:
For most people you will take 183/183A west to Tx 29. Continue west on Tx 29
until you get to Bertram TX. Just after coming into town take a right onto N.
Grange St.(FM1147, FM247). In 0.5 miles turn left onto Holleman St (FM1147).
About 1.5 miles down turn left onto CR-260. His house is on the right side
(north) of the road and his address is on his mail box out by the road. There is
a
gate just to the West of his house that should be used to drive out to the pads.
PLEASE remember to close the gate as he does have cattle that we do not want
to get out. Stay on the tire tracks and you will find us.

If you search for "1208 CR 260, Bertram, TX" on maps.yahoo.com you will find
it. For some reason google maps doesn't find the address.

Time: 9:00a til 5:00p or until interest wanes.

WAIVER: 5280 ft AGL (1 mile)

Impulse Limit : Whatever can be flown from 100 foot pad distance under NAR
rules.
Currently that means "J", complex HPR flights are not supported at this time.
_____________________________________________________________________

RANGE FEES: (I'm not 100% sure of these numbers but it will be no higher than
this).

"G" impulse and below: $7.00
"H" impulse and above: $10.00 (includes "G" and below)

Membership and range duty discounts apply

FAMILY RATE: Children fly free with paying Parent/Guardian.

EDUCATIONAL GROUP RATE: If you have an educational group activity
for particpation at the launch, for special consideration please
contact Mark Willett prior to Saturday at:

vice.president at aarg.org
_____________________________________________________________

Current forecast for Bertram is:

Clear with a high of 92. Winds at 9 mph out of the South.
______________________________________________________________

Vendors: The only vendor that I am aware of at this time is Stu Barrett with
Road
Runner motors. Hopefully by next month we will have an HPR motor dealer.
Remember
if you have G->? motor needs please get with me. I can take orders now but I
will not have any stock until next month.
______________________________________________________________

AARG "F" ALTIMETER CONTEST IN EFFECT - PLEASE ANNOUNCE YOUR INTENTION
TO COMPETE:

1) Entry fee is $20
2) Must use a RR F45 motor
3) Rocket must pass RSO and conform to AARG launch rules
4) Rocket must return in one piece
5) Rocket must be recovered in flyable condition
6) Altitude is determined with provided barometric altimeter
7) Rocket must include port hole(s) matching size specified by altimeter
instructions
8) Altitude must be confirmed by AARG officer or contest committee member
9) Contest duration is February 7, 2009 through December 5, 2009
10) Winner is determined by maximum altitude obtained by the final date
11) Winner receives half of all entry fees collected
_______________________________________________________________

HEALTH SAFETY:

At the range, you should consider yourself in the
wilderness.

Bring your own shade or shelter. The shade at the operations tables
is limited and is for members performing range duty.

I suggest lip balm, a hat and perhaps sunscreen for sensitive skins.
If you anticipate going into the forest after your project, long
pants and covered footwear is suggested (Shorts and Sandals is NOT a
good idea).

DRINK WATER!

Children:

I would suggest that special attention be paid to the attire of your
children, as they are particularly vulnerable to unprotected feet and
legs. "Crocs" are NOT recommended. Children treat
rocketry as a track and field event!

It doesn't seem far sometimes, but hiking for 30 - 45
minutes (working hard) can take it out of you, quick. I suggest a
canteen, camel-back, or other water bottle/container that is
comfortable to hike with during recovery operations in order to
prevent getting stupid and falling over.

Our first "test" launch went well. I now have the FAA waiver in place as well. I
have not yet heard back from NAR on the insurance but that shouldn't be an
issue.

Our next launch there will be the first Saturday of the month as usual. This
time that is 6/6/2009. The limits we are going to start with are very similar to
what our Granger field was, namely:

J impulse (100 foot pads)
1 mile (5280 feet) altitude

Hopefully we will have good weather again (low winds) like we did last month. A
full launch announcement will be coming out the week before like normal, I just
wanted to share this with you since things seem to be coming together.

Keep your eyes open for good sites! It would be great if we could find a year
round site with similar capabilities to Hutto.

The Hutto field is closed for the season.
The Grainger field is under a burn ban. The Grainger field is a grass field and
only an idiot would try to fly rockets there during a burn ban - thus we will
not be flying rockets during a burn ban.

I very much doubt anything on the burn ban changes between now and Saturday but
I will keep my eyes on it.
