Description

The Africa-America Institute (AAI) welcomes you to the African Perspectives Math & Science 2003 online discussion of Math and Science education in Africa. The African Perspectives Online discussion series is a component of the joint AAI/ AVU - African Technology for Education and Workforce Development Initiative (AFTECH) project.

The central question of this discussion will be: “How can African education systems best teach Math & Science today and at the same time increase enrolment and participation by girls in school in these and other subjects?”

Since its inception in 1999, the goal of the AAI African Perspectives has been to elicit a broad cross-section of African views on this and other topics. We want to introduce these views to U.S. development, technology and policy actors so as to inform and enrich the debate and impact the resultant actions and policies.

No specialized knowledge of the topic is necessary for your participation. Rather, we hope that you will contribute to the discussion based on your own personal and professional experiences.

1. Keep your responses as succinct as possible.
2. Keep your comments relevant to the topic at hand.
3. Do not use this discussion forum to advertise programs or projects.
4. Do not copy entire news articles to the discussion. (Just email the URL (web address) to the list.)

All discussion functions can be conducted through email, using the addresses at the bottom of the page. Feel free to explore the other functions on this site, located on the left of the page. You may also visit the “Delivery Options” link on this page to select the volume of email you wish to receive.
