This Yahoo web group is a recruitment tool for the 1st and 3rd Battalions of the 95th (Rifle) Regiment of Foot USA. We are a reenactment group portraying Wellington's famed "Green Jackets". The 1st Batt. runs this yahoo group and is responsable for it's content.
The 1/95 is a group based around the middle east coast area. We have as our "base" Old Bedford Village, in Bedford PA. We attend several events there each year as well as other events (Napoleonic and war of 1812)around the eastern US.
The 3/95 is a group based in the midwest, with their center being Kansas. The 3rd travels to many different events around the country. Please see the files section for more detailed information about our friends in the 3rd Battalion.
Both groups strive for authenticity in living history and Battle reenactments. Our two groups basic philosophies and dedication to the study of material culture are very similar. We work together at events where we both participate. Both groups strive to pay tribute to the original 95th Rifles. The 95th fought in both Europe and in North America. They were an elite unit within the British army. The unit has been popularised because of the many memoirs left by its members as well as by the popular "Sharpes Rifles" books and TV movies.
We are both looking for new members so give a shout if you want to "Take the kings Shilling".
