Dear Steve,

I wish to buy recordings by violinist Kathleen Parlow on Edison (disc &
cylinder), Gramophone, Nipponophone and Columbia. Please let me know if you
have any of these.

Cheers,

Greetings I'm looking for novelty 78, double entendre songs, and songs
about the hardships of the great depression. One aritst i'm looking for
is Larry Vincent, and I just learned from Lou Curtiss in San Diego, that
he had his own label, "Pearl" records and recorded under various names,
with alot of novelty issued on this label. If you have any thing of this
nature do eamil me and I will give my address. I do auctions too.

Thank You,

Hello Robert: I tried to e-mail you from your message on the 78-c and the
messages bounced back to me. Could you please get hold of me. I live in
D.C. and wondered where in Maryland you live and what you have to dispose
of. Thanks!

I had someone a few months ago looking for:

Phil Harris "Brazen Little Raisin/That's What I Like About The South".

I found the record - now I can't find the person who wanted it.
So this is just in case he's on 78-C.

I am a researcher into the history of recording. I operate a sound
studio specializing in obsolete audio formats. I appraise record
collections.

I also collect records. Classical, topical, spoken word, technical,
older pop favorites, etc. Lots of etc. About 75% of what I now buy
are records not issued in the U.S.

I am also a record dealer, operating in three mall locations in
Frederick, Md, keeping most of my better items in a warehouse in the
same city.

There is also a book a, magazine, catalog and ephemera collection
related to records and recording.

About 75% of the 78s are cataloged in a data base, and about 40% of the
LPs.

I'll try listing some items here at set sale. Stay tuned.

I spent the day driving around in 100 degree heat trawling junk and antique
shops and came up with a few goodies:

a Victor Orthophonic Credenza (trashed reproducer/perfect cabinet) $500;
a military Orthophonic portable player (EVERYTHING olive drab/trashed
motor/perfect Orthophonic reproducer) $75;
a Columbia "viva-tonal" portable Model 163 (great shape) $50;

Julie has "claimed" all the above as now being "hers", so at least for now,
none are going to be for sale.

Record hunting wasn't too shabby either; some N- grade 1920's Brunswick
dance orchs, an "indian head" OKeh, an Aretino (the first I've ever found -
alas cracked); and a Puritan (also my first - they don't appear down here at
all). The usual other suspects of misc early contry OKeh's and Columbia's
also turned up.

Not a bad day.... actually this is the best I've done in quite awhile,
having to find it myself rather than waiting to get a phone call for it.
Worth a sunburn, I suppose.

How was your weekend, so far?

Bill & All:
In my initial post I indicated that in order to keep track of what has
been or has not been transacted, I would only keep in my database those
records, albums, covers, partial sets, whatever that are wanted that were
posted to me individually. But Bill's post was not a long for sale type of
thing, so I decided to store his information as well, even though addressed to
78-C. So if there were others (and I recall a couple) who posted short lists
to 78-C rather than to me, would you post them again either to me or on the
list, so that I may include them? And please indicate these circumstances so
I will not be storing them twice. I feel as the list grows we will all be
glad to have this information available for future transactions.
      Thanks
Dave

I am Bill Zucca, collector of jazz and dance records for 35 years and
perfectly happy to subscribe to 78-L, C, X, N, Z or any other letter as
long as the lists are about old records, films, radio recordings, record
machines, and radios. My motto: Stop Complaining and Lighten Up.

This is my short want list:

"Tozo" Fletcher Henderson and His Orch. Columbia 970-D
"Diga Diga Do" Duke Ellington and His orch. Okeh 8602
"The Varsity Drag" Cass Hagan and His Park Central Hotel Orch. Columbia
1114D
"Sunday" Cliff Edwards and His Hot Combination Perfect 11633
"Sweepin' The Clouds Away" Buddy Rogers Columbia 2143D
"Outside" Rudy Vallee and His Connecticut Yankees Harmony 857H (or Vt,
Di)
"Lazy" Blossom Seeley Columbia 114D

I have very little of the same type of stuff to trade so would prefer to
purchase outright. I do, however, have a few items of blues and
hillbilly to trade. I also would very much like to correspond (for FUN)
with other collectors of records, radios, record machines, old broadcast
equipment, etc. outside the very political atomosphere of USENET and
NEWS groups.

Am also new member as guess everyone is for that matter. Am 36 and
interested in any Spike Jones, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong or Jellyroll
Morton that anyone may have extra to their needs. Am not big collector but
love this type of music and own few Victrolas to play them on. Also any
Stephan Grapelli would be nice. Dave

Greetings all. I am a collector of vinyl and hope to find more
information on 78 rpm discs. My main objective is to offer the hundreds of
records I have been gathering over the years. I am not a dealer, but hope to
find a good home for these records. Will be compiling several lists and
posting them here to see if there is any interest.
Looking forward to any and all contact. I am in my mid 40's and live in

Hi: Guess what? I have already been receiving want lists and thanks.
I will put them together and come up with something I can search quickly, and
compare. By the way, when I see a match, I'll let the parties know. When it
gets going, I will put it in a easily downloaded text file and email one to
whomever wants one.

Just a quick request -

Does anyone have any duplicates of popular World War I trench songs?

I have a customer who ESPECIALLY wants/needs:

"Over There" and "It's a Long, Long Way to Tippararee"

This is for a historical recreation group that will be re-enacting a WW-I
trench battle later this summer in Pennsylvania. They need some period
stuff to play on their Victrola portable that will be in the trench.

You are (taddah!) the FIRST POSTER!
You have missing nothing, so far.

I was waiting to get a few more subscriber's (we have about 20 I think right
now) and had planned to post something later this afternoon, but you've beat
me to it.  :-}

In the User Control center at OneList, you could have accessed the list's
Archive, but (until now) there is nothing there.

There are a few more part-time 78 dealers that I would like to see on here,
and I'm (slowly) getting Invites off to them. This has been A LOT of work
to set up (especially keeping the 78-L Archive updated too!).

A good 1st start, for the existing subscribers would be to start posting
your Want Lists. This will get them saved onto the first Digest in the
Archive for search engines (such as at Liszt) to locate later on.

We have been added to Liszt (takes a week to two to get into the directory,
though) so that will help us pick up a few more newcomers also.
