This Group was established in December 2005, and is reserved for personnel who were permanently assigned to the 6988th Security Squadron while operating at Yokota Air Base, Japan, and/or the 6988th Electronic Security Squadron at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England. Inclusive dates for Yokota are 1 February 1963 through 31 December 1972. Inclusive dates for Mildenhall are 1 June 1980 through 30 September 1993, with unit redesignation to the 488th Intelligence Squadron to present.
