These regulative principles are known as no meat-eating, no illicit sexual connection, no intoxication, and no gambling. These regulative principles are an elementary concern in preparation for the pursuit of Bhakti Yoga.
The more we learn about yoga, the more we will understand the importance of these four regulative principles. Some may think this is a simple matter, but for others these regulative principles may not be so easy to practice. The hope is that this kind of discussion will help as many as possible to learn what these regulative principles are all about and how to follow them.
We want to consider these standards from all perspectives, but beginning with the basic perspectives such as Dharma, Vedic and Bhakti. This translates to mean the material perspective, the area between material affairs and devotional affairs and then the strictly devotional perspective.
We want to therefore, accept the comments of those who may be completely new to this understanding. As those advanced in this understanding join this group, the more assistance will become available for those with reasonable requests for information and/or guidance.
