440Neighborhood was started as a discussion list centered in a residential building in the Upper West Side of Manhattan near Columbia University. As owner, however, I quickly realized that rather than a unifying outlet, I had created one dividing net from non net residents ;-). So I have broadened the reach of the list to concerns relating to Morningside Heights and to the north where the bulk of our Community Board #9 extends. The membership invited here includes not only building residents, family, friends, but also neighbors of all ages who wish to share information of interest -- area social and political events, shopping tips, school and college activities (including reports home), whatever concerns might be of interest to list members. The list is unmoderated. Contributors are urged to maintain net courtesies and only in the rarest instances would be barred from participation in the list for violations of same. Occasional contributions will be posted on our building bulletin board. Ed Kent
