Description
The Catksill 3500 Club is a hiking club dedicated to the climbing of all 35 peaks in the Catskill Mountains over 3500 feet. The club actively maintains a weekly hike schedule that goes to at least one of the peaks. This hike schedule is available to club members and aspirants alike in the Catskill Canister. The Catskill Canister is available for $10 a year by writing Judith Weiner, 755 Anderson Avenue Apt. 4J, Cliffside Park, NJ 07010. Membership is attained by climbing all 35 peaks as well as Slide, Balsam, Panther and Blackhead Mountains a second time in the winter for a total of 39 climbs.
The club is also actively involved in conservation issues as they relate to the Catskill Mountains. If you have conservation issues you wish to bring to the attention of the club, you can e-mail the club conservation chair, Carol White at ccswhite@juno.com.
This Internet discussion group is open to all who are interested in
hiking in the Catskills. Feel free to discuss trip reports, ask
questions on current conditions, etc. Discussion on conservation
issues is also welcome. However, use of this list is restricted from
all commercial purposes. The list moderator is Ted Ripley-Duggan and
the list owner is Howard Dash.
