Nah ! Tim, don't be so hard on yerself ! Holy pooper scoopers, ya gotta defend
ya territory, and ya gotta tell 'em like it is. Surely I don't have to remind my
cousins in the New World about them critters and varmints who drive big wheels
in the US of A, who took over 10 metres so that there's more 'o them darned
illegals than there are of genuine brass pounders.!

I also saw a list of frequencies issued by the E4X crowd and on it was 18.100 as
the operating frequency. Once again everybody with half a brain knows that
18.100 is used by PSK operators. A few days ago this frequency was brimming over
with RTTY chirpings, it sounded like wombats high on speed. Well, they've gone
now, and so have the good conditions, and, all the DX. Anybody here collect
stamps ?

I don't sit around twiddling my thumbs, but rather my dials. Not that
there's much difference when propagation's dead.

That said, on 30m in the last few days I've worked a few new ones: FO8RZ
and KP2M on CW, and just now HI7/DM1DZ on PSK, so the DX is still there
if you want to wait around for it.

I posted the following on QRZ.com a couple of days ago:

1.)The odds that a solar flare produced coronal mass ejection striking Earth's
magnetosphere and creating catastrophic damage to our electric/electronic
infrastructure is very remote.

Much like a large asteroid impact it's just more B.S. to scare the
scientifically dumbed down general public.

2.) I discussed the X34 (actually X45) class solar flare on my web page NZ4O 160
Meter Radiowave Propagation Theory Notes at http://www.wcflunatall.com/nz4o5.htm
under paragraph #16. My close examination of the solar flare got it's magnitude
bumped up to X45.

3.) That solar flare was not geoeffective (Earth facing) so "most" all of it's
harmful effects missed Earth. Here is a video of the solar flare event
http://www.wcflunatall.com/x28superflare031104.gif .

I'm familiar with the 1859 event and of course the March 1989 event. During the
1989 event I saw visible aurora here in central Florida.

3.) Yes something is going to happen on 12/21/2012. The Earth will continue to
spin on it's 23.5 degree axis as it travels around the Sun as the Sun rockets
through the Orion Arm of the Milky Way galaxy as the Milky Way travels through
the Universe with the other local galaxies.

All of the end of the world nonsense is just that nonsense.

R1 is 680 ohms

I was operating a ICOM 728 for many years and spoken to many of you on it both
PSK and CW. However, I noticed that lately although it was sending fine, the
receiving was getting weaker until it failed. In fact I received emails from
you why I did not answer your PSK reply. I did not see you on waterfall, My
new rig is working fine except I am not transmitting. I have used DM780. My
old "broken" rig still sends on PSK, etc. But the new one will not go from
receive to transmit. I am able to transmit on SSB so that is not the problem.
My Nomic is working on the old rig with same computer settings. I have the
sending levels at maximum (which may be the problem). I spoke to the great guys
at West Mountain and they suggested trying to bypass R1 which I did to no avail.
Any suggestions?

Hope I can solve with your help. 73 Bob

I really appreciate the assistance you receive from West Mountain Radio. Also
starting to get used to my new rig, IC718. Quite a difference from IC-728.
Worked TN, Porto Rico, Moscow and Netherlands yesterday. My old rig transmitted

I have started using PA30EPC on june 2nd and will hold the call until the 29th
and all I can say is : 30 meters is buzzing. Conditions have not been good, but
did manage to squeeze in CX4ACH and N4EPC this weekend, making up for a total of
200(!) qso's in just 11 days!! (I was off for fieldday during the first weekend
of activation and was only active during the evening).

The grand total for all PA30EPC qso's is now at 850+ and most of those contacts
were made on 30! So thanks for all those I have in the log already.

Adding to Thomas's comments of a few days ago about the unlikely chance of solar
activity affecting the Earth and the "Doomsday" phenomena initiated by the
world's press, there was an article in the British Daily Telegraph today.

Dr.Richard Fisher of NASA suggested to the readers of the Daily Telegraph that
when the Sun does eventually wake from its long slumber around 2013, the earth
will be struck by unprecedented levels of magnetic energy from the solar flres
which will be activated.

Satellite navigation in cars, i pods, computers, hospital equipment, banking
systems, even air traffic control, and Uncle Tom Cobley and all, will be
affected.

So, is this a slight suggestion from NASA that we now have to wait a further two
and a half years before the Sun livens up and gets the ionosphere into a
satisfactory working condition so that we can talk for a few hours between the
UK and west coast USA ?

Hey, hold on a bit Jesse ! Whose mentioned about the world ending on a certain
day ? I hope not, NASA says the peaks gonna be in 2013, and some people have had
a message, so we're told, and they're going to the top of the mountain in 2012.
Anyway, to put matters right, the Sun hasn't woken up, the numbers are lousy,
and the only band where anyone is trying to contact anybody is 20 metres, and if
you don't pull your finger out sharpish they whizz off into the ether like they
were never there !

Any group member have any 30 meter PSK or other digital mode contacts to report?

Or does anyone has any comments about the propagation paths in your area of the
World for the last few weeks on the 30 meter band?
(openings, path changes, activity, DX best times, modes, antennas, etc)

Or report 30m digital spots here:

(thanks Laurie VK3AMA)
http://pskreporter.info/pskmap.html

Also remember thanks to a few members here we have live 30 Meter PSK Online
Receivers so check out what is happening in other parts of the World on 30
Meters:

Hi Don and all,
the conditions here in Northern Europe have been poor to dismal during daytime;
they used to improve by about 1800z allowing for QSOs with JA and other Asian
regions. I did not hear any stateside calls and only faint ones from LU too weak
to work them.
Of the about 50 QSOs during the past 10 days I selected the following ones,
omitting most of the ubiquitous BPSK:

In this context under poor condx the Contestia mode 8/250 has proven to be
extremely reliable under QRM, QRN and QSB, with rare garbage print when signal
levels went down to "below the grass". ROS 16/500 was good, too, but too rare to
give me a trustworthy base for judging its performance.
Since I started calling CQ in Contestia about a couple of months ago, I had
about 10 QSOs with hams who told me that it were their first QSO in this mode.
Certainly this was possible only due to me calling with TX-RSID enabled, and
very gratifying.

Hello, for me in the Isle of Wight, England band conditions were not good
for the 30MDG Members Weekend :-(
I hope others had better conditions.
