LNG Redux: The Battle Continues   Message List

Hi All,

Here we go again, yet another proposal to pipe LNG into SoCal via a pipeline off
the Central Coast. This time, it's not a foreign corporation, but NorthernStar
Natural Gas, which is out of Houston, TX. They want to turn Platform Grace, an
oil platform about 11 miles from the Ventura County coast into a LNG receiving
terminal. They call it the ClearWater Port project.

So, what's different this time around, aside from the fact that it's a different
corporation, and it's not off the coast of Oxnard? Well, according to the
company, greenhouse gas emissions during the conversion process are ~80% lower
in this proposal, and the new company would open the port to competition from
different gas companies, a proposal that could lower prices for consumers.

So, if you want to have your say, feel free to show up at one of the public
comment meetings on October 3 and 4, in Oxnard and Santa Clarita, respectively.

Regards,
Tim
