Tried the quick-sil. If you aren't FAST on the mixing the putty parts it
can be grainy.
Also tried Polytek and it was ok.
I think my favorite has been MicroMark's1 to 1 I think.
The Quick-Sil is more forgiving in that you don't need the perfect box to
pour a liquid into, but since it has a quick cure time, you MUST be
prepared.
I forgot to have my mold release stuff handy and paid for it with one side
setting up on me too soon.

Castaldo has a 2-part putty casting rtv "rubber" called Quik-sil. You mix
the 2 parts together. Put enough for 1/2 a mold in a box, add your mini, add
some talc so the other half doesn't stick, add more of the quik-sil to fill
the box, clamp it down and leave it under compression. In a very short time
you have a 2-part mold. Cut a pouring vent and small air vents as needed. I
had no success at making my own molds or casting before, but I was able to
use the quik-sil successfully pretty much right off the bat for a number of
figures I sculpted.

not sure if you guys have it in the US) and I saw they sell casting resin
and RTV casting rubber. Its's REALLY expensie though! I bought a little pot
of 2 part RTV silicone that is like a putty and when you mix the 2 parts you
stick the master into it and then it sets in around 10 minutes! Good for
casting bases and building components, but not so great for actual figures.
I've ordered silicone, white metal, resin and all sorts of other putties and
great modelling bits from www.sylmasta.com. Id reccomend them for anyone in
the UK looking for casting kit 9might suply the US but not sure?). The guy
who owns the company is also really helpful and gave me loads of hints and
tips for using the stuff I bought.
