Hi Pam,
I really didn't know the soldier personally, but I'm going to give you the name and email of the person who posted this in the other group and hopefully they can help you more than I can.
bluestarmom2x@... and her name is Pat. I know they are living in SC, from the post and Pat said to message her for details to send condolences. If she can't help you just write me back and I will get the information you need by doing a little research and contacting some people. Other than that, here's a link to THAT yahoo group, I'm sure it wouldn't take but a minute to join.
I'll keep your son in my prayers along with all of the families of our fallen soldiers. I'm also going to still keep this group running, even though my
brother will be coming home in a couple weeks. Let me know how things work out.
Merry Christmas,
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, I heard from my son who was good friends w/Joshua Blaney. He was transferred from A company, 1/503rd which is my son's unit. I have been searching the net frantically to try to get information on where his family is from so that I could get in touch w/them. I live in VA Beach, and would like to get information on services for CPL Blaney, and to get in touch w/ his family if you can make that possible. My son, who is also named Josh, had some wonderful things to say about his brother in arms, CPL Blaney, and I would like to transmit those words to his family. Thank you very much.Pam

Issued Dec 14, 2007 On the afternoon of 12 December, SSG
Michael Gable, and CPL Joshua Blaney from D Co, 1-503rd Infantry,
were killed when their vehicle struck and Improvised Explosive Device
(IED). SSG Gable had previously served in the Vicenza Rear
Detachment until mid September. Neither soldier was married.
Three other soldiers were wounded in the same event, one seriously.
All family members have been notified.
Memorial Service is currently scheduled for Wednesday, 19 December,
at 1000 in the Vicenza Post Chapel.
I received a call early yesterday morning from one of CPL Joshua
Blaney's aunts with the devastating news that he had been killed on
Wednesday. His mother and I have been corresponding and calling each
other since our sons went to Afghanistan together in early 2005. I
spoke with his mother and of course she and the rest of the family
are still in shock and numb with grief. Josh had been transferred to
Delta Co. with several others only about 1-1/2 months ago. If any of
you would like, I will forward information on Josh's services, they
are originally from NC but now reside in SC, and an address to where
you can send cards.
Our sons/daughters are about halfway through this deployment. Keep
praying and keep BELIEVING!
Best regards,
Pat
