Description
The American Civil War, or the War Between the States, was a defining event in our nation's history, a tragic struggle of brother against brother that in the end forged a stronger nation. If you desire to help preserve this period of American history as a reenactor and living historian, we would like to invite you to join the 12th Texas Cavalry.
The original 12th Texas Cavalry, also known as Parsons' Dragoons, was a unit formed by men from the counties of north and central Texas. These brave men fought and died for a cause in which they believed. We attempt to honor those who made such sacrifices, both North and South, through our reenacting and living history activities.
Members of the unit can participate as mounted cavalry or dismounted cavalry. Our dismounted troopers, true to tactics of the time, operate as mounted troopers who are fighting on foot with their horses held to the rear, thus the uniform and weaponry requirements are the same for both the mounted and dismounted troopers.
Apart from our Confederate impression, from time to time we also portray the 5th Kansas Cavalry, a Federal unit that saw action in Missouri, Arkansas, and the Indian Territory.
If you are interested in joining our unit, please contact our recruiting officer, 2nd Lieutenant Rich Anderson
